Not a direct competitor but I really love the look of the new GX. Very chiseled and old school in a great way. Used to love the older LX470s in the 1990s to early 2000s.

I drive a '23 GX. Doesn't have near the bells and whistles of my wife's 45e, but a really nice, simple-by-modern-standards vehicle. I'm glad I got the last year of the V8. We'll see what happens, but I suspect we'll own it well over 2X the amount of time we have the X5.

I leased a GX back in 2016 and can't believe it's taken them long to update the vehicle to modern. I was nice, but definitely not special or premium. This is definitely nicer and falls in line with Toyota's interior design. I supposed I'm looking forward to a review however, I don't believe this will provide the same sport driving experince as the X5. This seems to compete with the small 3 row seating CUVs such as the Q7, XC90 etc. although it could steal x5 sales for users wanting that extra row and better off=roading capability.

It is a very different car than X5/X7. It is a real truck, body onn frame, true 4WD with center diff instead of clutch pack center transfer case. GX has always been about off road capability, so be is the best if not the best. The real competitor is RX/TX

It’s off in a category all its own. I see the appeal, but as already mentioned once you go BMW it’s hard to go back.

The response in the GX community has been rather positive, and this is a group of folks who absolutely adore their current gen vehicles. The biggest concern is the reliability of the new-to-GX motor, as it hasn't been up to Lexus standards in the platforms where it already exists. My expectation is that it will improve over time.
As I mentioned earlier, I'm quite pleased with my '23. It has way, way more cargo space than our 45e (particularly after I removed the 3rd row the first week I had it), as seen below.) Most importantly to me, it has escaped all the crap cars have been burdened with in the last decade. For example, plain ol' cruise control is trivially easy to engage, and I don't have to worry about how to disable ASS because it doesn't exist. The '22 and following GXs do have wired AA, that is easily converted to wireless, and that's the only electronic thing I cared about. A casual look at my signature will confirm that I have different tastes in vehicles than most folks here, so I don't expect a lot of GX love. Toyota will be able to sell every one that can make, though. Mark

I think this is a competitor to Land rover Defender. Definitely not X5 or X7

Yea and I don't really respect Lexus in general. Always feel it's a Toyota with better seats and big price tag. Can't compare with the luxury of BMW

Yeah I wouldn't compare this to an X5. It's a different kind of vehicle.
With that being said, I can see this having a lot of road presence. Picturing an all black model, it would look really badass (can't think of a better way to put it). It just looks rugged. |

Once you own one it will gain your respect. My wife is on her 3rd RX. All have been great vehicles with ZERO issues and outstanding customer service.

This new GX is just plain hideous. Finally they scrapped that ridiculous barn door that they had for a liftgate. |

A souped up land cruiser that can go anywhere and last forever is not really a competitor for the leasemobile x5.
