Dampers adjust to the rim/tire size selected?

I just switched from my winter 20" 275/45/20 Michelin Pilot Alpin to the staggered 22's...someone explain to me why the ride feels a bit softer and less jarring? Both are non-RFT.

Is this some kind of sorcery?

The only explanation could be the wheel/tire size adjustment through the idrive settings when you swap. I think the dampers adjust to the wheel/tire size selected. It's gotta be...how else can case going from a 45 to a 30/35 sidewall be softer..makes no sense!

There is a wheel/tire size adjustment through the idrive settings?
I don't remember ever seeing that in my current/past cars.

It is likely just difference in tires. Your michelins may just have very stiff sidewalls.

I don't have my car yet but I asked my sales associate about changing my rims to a smaller size if my 22s become too much of an issue and he said there is a setting where you can change what rim size is on your car.

Winter Michelins having that stiff sidewall's compared to the pirelli pz4? That would be hard to believe but who knows.

The setting is under vehicle status, tire or tire pressure settings..in there you can select the type of wheel/tire you have along with if its winter or all season/summer.

Cool. I didn't know you can do that.

Cool. Good to know about this setting. To test your theory, change it back to what your winter settings were and go for a drive. That should either confirm or exclude your theory.

I'm pretty sure the tire setting in iDrive is just for the recommended tire pressure and TPMS.
