While I don't know anyone's use case for their new X5, I would not buy one withOUT the Driving Assistance Professional Package. Puts the MSRP over $80k but it's the best option on the list.
EDIT: fixed a typo

I agree, it is a must-have option along with the Parking Assistance package.

Yes, read it as he would not buy one without it given his description of it being the best option.

I originally voted yes, but as time has gone on, my answer has changed. I'd find a used 45e over buying a new 50e now.

It could very well have an impact on used values if it becomes common knowledge in the motor trade.

FWIW, I’ve been talking to a dealership in the DFW Metroplex, which is one of the largest in the U.S., and was recently told they’ve sold a lot of 50e’s, and the “vast majority of customers” have had zero mechanical issues, but some have had the CEL or powertrain problems. Now you might expect they’d tell me that, but I was also there talking to them about switching my order to a M60i that costs more. It is a shame that one has to worry about a $90,000 vehicle before it is even delivered.

The vast majority of LS7 motors don't have issues, yet their values are crushed by a fear of dropping a valve and nuking the engine. That makes c6 Z06s a performance bargain, but also means the first few owners get hit hard with depreciation.
On the flip side, BMWs seem to be immune from this. The M motors have had issues with rod bearings, carbon build up, VANOS issues, etc and people still pay a ton for older M3s and M5s, so maybe there's a level of unreliability accepted with a BMW? I dunno. |

I would say that there's a level of acceptable unreliability for an M3 or M5, but not for any of the soccer mom BMWs like the X5.

Just changed my order from 50e (week 10 build) to M60i. Crazy I handle BMW issues by giving them more money.
I need a new username. |

After thinking about it we are keeping our week 11 50e build order. Never owned a BMW but after looking at everything else available we liked the X5 the best. I figure, one way or another BMW will have to make it right.

I have had my 50e since August 2023. 5k miles 2.5 k electric only. Very happy with it and basically no issues. Would definitely buy again.
