Tire noise - 2024 20" Bridgestone RFTs
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I'm wondering if this is the Bridgestone RFTs or just the X5 and noise? Considering switching to non-RFTs which I have always liked, just not sure if that will help with the noise. Appreciate thoughts from anyone that has experience with this. |

I've got the Alenza RFTs on our 2022 X5 and Michelin PSS (summer, non-RFT) on my 2023 Z4. Driving around Florida on our lousy roads, there's not a lot of difference in noise. On freshly paved asphalt, they're both pretty quiet. On the rougher sections where the asphalt or concrete is breaking down, they are both noisy.
My experience going to non-RFT on earlier X5s was a bit of improvement in ride due to the more compliant sidewall. Noise is primarily driven by the tread design and how hard the tire compound is. TireRack's surveys can tell you a bit about what to expect, but I find tire noise to be highly subjective.

I have 20 inch Bridgestone RFTs on my 2020 X5 40i. I consider them very quiet. I also have the Vibration dampers. I think they make of difference and they apparently are not installed on the LCI models.
