Week 44 Build

I learned that my new X5 xdrive40i is scheduled to be built starting week 44 (end of Oct). PUMPED!! I'm waiting to hear about timing of Performance Center Delivery. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes from build start to completion of manufacturing?

Assembly takes less than a day. You will go into Production Begins about two weeks prior to your production date. That does not mean that any assembly has begun but rather that a VIN has been assigned and parts ordered/allocated. At that time you can use the "F12" process to find out your production date.

Just got the PCD date of December 4th for my week 44 build referenced above. Hopefully everything stays on track! I can confirm another post that mentions no factory tour at present but they offer that you can come back in the future to do the tour.

That's great news! Has your status changed to production begins or still at production scheduled?

My understanding is it should move to production begins about 2 weeks prior to when it is scheduled for production but in another thread I saw someone with week 43 production move to Production begins yesterday morning so about a week give or take.

Just had a chance to look and I'm seeing the same thing; status 150 production date 11/2. We're getting there!

Hopefully the prod date moves up to earlier in the week for a chance of Saturday delivery since it only takes couple of days in transit once dispatched

Just this AM I noticed that a VIN was assigned to my 50e order. I have no idea what 'week' is planned. So, what's the conventional wisdom concerning the actual production day or week? What is the 'F12 process'?

Your production date should be in about two weeks. You can use the "F12" process to get your production date.

Production date is 11/04. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

I'm looking forward to the driving assistance pro keeping me entertained on the beaten tracks of I-35, I-94, and I-90. Would love to get back on I-80 as well...

My build date is 11/4! I ordered a 40I that will be replacing my 50E that BMW is buying back. Ill. miss the power of the 50E but not the issues.

Fingers crossed here! I had two different i3's that were both flawless and same for my trusty x3. Any suggested areas for particular vigilance?

There is nothing you can do to avoid the problems that we are seeing. If you have an issue an error message will be displayed on the screen.

May vary, but mine did not unlock until vehicle arrived at dealer.

As mentioned above, it is around the time of delivery. What I always suggest is looking for a similar vehicle on a dealer's site and use that VIN to get the manual. This way you can read it once or twice prior to getting the vehicle.

Yep.. status 182, waiting for carrier assignment. Since I'm doing PCD delivery I'm not sure what status will be next. That is great to hear yours is built. Almost there!
