2019 Bmw x5 Problems
I have found a few problems most of which have been listed already
Key not found seems to happen sometimes when the key is in my pocket as the driver. Comfort access seems to take some time to recognize that i am approaching the car and or leaving the area to lock sometimes doesn't work at all On cold start there is a rattle near the right rear of the vehicle goes away after 20 seconds or so The weather widget and news widget disappears sometimes easy (temporary) fix by just reseting the screen. Apple Car play SUCKS (lucky its free for a year) constantly disconnects and re connects I phone XSMax. I Find bluetooth to be much more stable. If you take your hands off the wheel (I know i shouldn't) while driving in active cruise for too long the car will just apply the brakes and come to a stop Even when I am holding the wheel while in active cruise control sometimes it tells me to grab the wheel. Lane keep assist is way too aggressive! The sos and concierge does not work The BMW Connected App Doesn't work at all in Canada apparently The steering wheel makes a noise while turning it Had some wind noise yesterday on highway at about 120km/h Hopefully just a windy day While lowering the suspension the car creeks a lot prob just need to tighten the brakes for auto hold a little bit Cant seem to get the park assist to park my car at all spent about 20mins in a parking lot trying and pissed off a lot of people I really hope its just early production problems and I didn't get a lemon! I love the car and hope they sort some if not all of this out I am sure there is more but i leave you guys with that for now |

My X5 is surely possessed!
I am new to this forum and new to BMW. I just got the 2019 X5 in November. Have been driving a Jeep Sahara for 8 years and thought I might like to upgrade...boy was that a mistake..miss my Jeep, but probably because I am not used to the X5. I swear it's possessed and just does what it wants to do while driving. I have turned off the lane assist, scared the heck out of me, but the steering wheel seems to have alot of play in it and I dont feel I am in control of it at times. Also have tried to play my playlists from my phone and car just doesn't recognize it. Very frustrating. I really wanted to love this 70k+ car (yes I got all the bells and whistles in it when ordering), but ready to try to get out of my lease and get back into a Jeep. Any advice for BMW newbie is appreciated. Thank you.

A few bugs, but...
Generally very happy. The few bugs I have:
1. Cannot link Connected Drive to the car. At set up the ‘message’ sent to the BMW Messages app never arrives. 2. Haven’t been able to set up the digital key..possibly related to 1. and the challenged Genius who proved not to be as educated as needed when I picked up the car. Solution this weekend I hope when I return to the dealer. 3. I find the steering very loose in the morning, seemingly when temperatures are below freezing. Firms up after a few minutes driving (dealer couldn’t diagnose a problem). 4. I agree the driving assistance is quite aggressive, but you get used to it. |

One more
I forgot, occasionally the right side instrument panel selection panel defaults to the drive mode and the other options are unobtainable via the left stalk. Another question for the dealer.

One bug.... apple car play connection gets lost a couple days a week. It says it’s connected via both Bluetooth and WiFi. But no apple CarPlay. To fix it I need to delete my phone and then re-pair it
One annoyance... lane keeping assist is too aggressive and sensitive. It works, but I didn’t like it. I had to turn it off. Overall, LOVE the car. First car I’ve loved in a while |

I have it turned off as well. I think it would be good as an emergency for waking the driver up if they fell asleep.

Transmission leak
Started leaking from transmission in less than 3 months after purchase! (less than 1400 miles!) Dealer said that it was from transmission/gearbox input (converter bell housing). It was replaced fixed by dealer under warranty and no leak in past 2 weeks, but I am scared!
No other problem so far. Do you think it was a major issue? |
