Mine turns on maybe 1% of the time so that's not enough to bother me. Hit the button when you get it or put the car in Sport mode/gear lever in S

Bimmercode App ($30) + OBD2 adapter ($50) + 3 minutes of your time = No more Auto Start/Stop.

Easy peasy. I did it...best money I've spent in a long time.

I wouldn't mind if it only activates AFTER the car comes to a full stop. In reality it always seem to kick in too early and bring the car to an abrupt stop. :

100 percent agreed

So much more stupid than Lexus. In my old NX, I can decide whether or not to shut off the engine by how much I pressed down my brake pedal while on auto hold.
While stupid BMW X5 will shut the engine off once the vehicle is completely stopped. It should be a easy update fix. Hopefully, it will be addressed in the future update.

You can see the direction the market is going trying to play the fuel economy game with increasing European regulations. Thank god BMW still embraces and high hp V8. The other Germans are 4 and 6 cinders centric for about everything. Start/Stop is useless and a old way to appease these heavy-handed regulations. Be thankful we can turn the feature off manually. There will be a day when you can’t.

If I code my X5 to allow ASS to remember the last setting and then have the dealer update the software will I have to recode it again?

Anything else cool you can do with that adaptor? Will a dealer software update make you have to redo the coding?

No it wont. I use OBDeleven scanners on my Audi A7 and A8 and makes some minor mods and turn off/on some features and used a similar device for the 2015 X5d we have to turn off the pressing stop button twice to turn off car etc. Its really a good tool to have for diagnosis too.

Yeah, it's annoying. I wish it would just stay off until you turned it back on. I try to turn it off right after startup. Hopefully it'll eventually just become second nature.

Yes it will. Dealer update will blow any coding in place.

Only if the dealer updates the specific ECU that you configured.

If you use BimmerCodeApp and a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter it takes about 2 minutes to code it again yourself.
