50i M-Sport Carbon black and Ivory extended Merino delivery today. Pics

It’s been a long journey with my dealer to get me this vehicle. A month of nation wide searches and dealer inbounds. Colors and options on the 50i are brutal. There are only about 3% 50i to 40i on dealers lots at this time. Out of those, there are huge ordering errors.
Errors like no Drivers Assistance Package on a lot of them. This means no ACC or high speed crash collision midigation on a $94k vehicle??? Then there are the M-Sport packages without M-Sport brakes. The forum tools and ordering guide was absolutely nessisary for me to check over build codes. The dealer ordering error omissions were astounding when going over dozens of vehicles.
Long story short if you have a build going on, ride it out unless by some miracle you walk into a perfect build on a dealers lot. You are gonna work for it looking for one. I feel like a X5 ordering encyclopedia now.

I found my perfect 50i M-Sport with Carbon Black / Ivory white extended Merino /Piano Black trim/Glass. Every option except NV or B&W. I wanted NV but it’s a small option to leave out to get everything else in the color and trim I wanted. I couldn’t have built a more perfect combo.
Dealer sent me a few pics last night when it arrived. The color combo is a stunner. They hope to have it ready for me later today.

LOL. Yes, pics please!

Yay on finding the perfect car for you.

Me, I don't in any way consider the absence of Driver's Assistance Package to be an "error". Given the multiple reports here of DAP making uncommanded severe steering inputs, causing accidents or near-miss emergencies, as well as the basic principle of the driver always maintaining full control of the car instead of surrendering it to vehicle automation, DAP is the one option I will NOT ever order on my next Bimmer.

The issue is no ACC. The other safety features we can turn off. I have had collision avoidence save my family last year on the schuylkill expressway with a wreck right in front of me at 75mph. The vehicle was braking before I could get me foot off the mat. It pains me to say this, but the computer was faster than my reflexes at that speed.
I am literally walking out the door now to go pick it up. Pics are coming, I promise.

Here are a few pics of the day. Great day setting up all my info and app connections. Everything works except we can’t get my Galaxy note 8 to go completely through the digital key card process. Remote services and remote 3D camera work great. All apps in the vehicle work including the weather app. Dealer reports his X5 builds are on delay or paused all together. The factory is also tooling up for another vehicle and he believes this could be the issue for the delay. My dealer is desperately trying to dealer trade any 50i’s from other dealers across the country. He says they are drying up unusually fast.

Weather was crappy but took some delivery pics. Pics don’t do it justice. The depth of the carbon black is stunning. I am beyond thrilled with my new beast. I will take some proper pics when the weather clears up.

Interior merino Ivory white with piano black. Very upscale and dramatic. Show stopper.

Found the battery in the rear and hooked up a battery tender lead line.

Dealer was beyond accommodating. Gave me all kinds of bmw swag including this BMW M chronograph watch. Its actually not a bad quartz chronograph.

Beautiful car, congrats. I'm planning to order a very similar spec in the next couple of months, just trying to decide between the 20" and 21" wheels.

Btw, did the M sport badge on the front quarter panel come standard, or did you have the dealer put that on?

Thanks. The M-Sport badge is hit or miss in the states. It comes standard in Euro spec form. All the initial X5 M-Sport shown at the release shows like in France has them. I’m guess it will depend on your build date? Just put 8 hours in a full detail wax. The Carbon Black is amazing and reflects like a mirror. It’s aggressive and menacing looking. So glad I went with the color.

Great color, wish mine came with the m badge like that here in Texas.

Absolutely beautiful! You gonna tint the front windows?
Would you mind measuring the size of the M badges on the front quarter panels? I want to see if I can purchase them somewhere.

There are leads in the engine bay for that. Red plastic cover on the positive post (flips open) and you can attach the tender's negative lead to any common ground - the manual specifies where the dedicated ground it. You can use it to jump or be jumped if needed as well. Either way, problem solved for you and thanks for posting the pic of the battery storage!

Your truck is a stunner - one of the nicest combos I've seen here - congrats.

Thanks for the info! I'm trying to decide between this and the gloss black "M" I see on eBay.

Thanks for sharing photos. Stunning.

The color combination is awesome and that interior....wow! I'm getting the Ivory Merino too but with the Phytonic Blue.

Like you, I chose the 740M wheels (20"). I think they look good and I really wanted to not go bigger (21 or 22) for tire selection and comfort, not to mention, they are standard. Interesting that the X7 has the 740M wheel as an option in the 22" size.

Question: Did the m on the side come that way or did you order it?

Enjoy your new ride.

Thank you. This forum was priceless in the order codes trying to put my rig together. I won’t be driving my 50i everyday so I always hook up Battery Tender Jr quick connecting lead lines on my good vehicles. The parasitic power loss on the new X5 has to be high as it’s always monitoring. Curious why the ambient lights stay on so long after leaving the car?

The badge is 2” long. It’s not huge but just big enough not to be overbearing. I just took a quick phone pic of it in my garage. The pic makes colors look washed out but they are not. The other thing to notice in the pic is how deep and reflective the Carbon Black is. It is reflecting my 911 C4S under its red and black cover. I P21 waxed the paint today and it’s unbelievable. It’s raining today so I couldnt take any pics of the final results.

I wanted the 20”ers as they allow me to go from PA to FL without stressing the weather or driving on winter tires in South Beach Miami. The 20”ers look plenty big (bigger in real life) and I rather like their style with my color. If you go 21”, there is exactly one AS tire that will fit the factory wheel. 22”ers are totally about as there is nothing for that wheel. M Sport badge was luck of the 50i M-Sport build. It’s hit or miss in the USA but Europe gets it as part of the package.

BMW owns the top tier lighting category now.

With this kind of license plate frame, do I need a badge like the OP?

Car not able to be washed due to recent tint job, but I would like to know when it is safe to do a good waxing.
