Put down deposit today. Dealer said all was good then after taking deposit and putting in build order informed me that BMW system had it as unavailable so it was removed.

Disappointed as I wanted it as a supplement to the integrated camera (longer record times prior to incidents, longer grace period to initiate saving a recording, and recording while parked options). Also disappointed as I know it will be way more expensive than the $735 it was offered for as part of build to have it (or something similar) installed after delivery.

Dealer informed me US assembly plant is out of stock and although they have supply in Germany - no idea when US will have availability again.

Anyone have any suggestions or insight into likelihood of US having availability again and if worth not taking delivery until US has available again (Or anyway to verify what dealer is telling me)

It has been removed from many builds. Try and make a deal with your dealer, maybe too late now, that they will get it and install it for the $735. We have had at least one member who has done that.

a) my dealer indicated it could take weeks/months
b) besides the $735 they want $1000 for the install and don’t want to make any concessions

Felt like a go away offer and they actually really have no interest …

thankfully - dealer agreed to cover part & installation after delivery for build cost when car eye pro is available

My dealer also agreed to install for the original build cost when it became available. They also shared this email from BMW NA --

Can anyone explain the difference in cost through build of ACE between xDrive 40i and M60i? Why would the same feature be more expensive on the M60i? I decided not to go with it and I'm glad I did hearing that it's being canceled on orders.

There is no difference that I know of, the price is now $810 for all models.

I’ve been wondering of BMW is going to start to offer the same kind of feature using their own built-in external cameras much like Tesla started to do in 2017. This would utilize the existing hardware and software and not require the add-on device. Just a thought.
