2022 BMW X5 M Facelift Rendering Shows Subtle Upgrades

LCI after two years???

https://www.bmwblog.com/2021/08/09/2...ift-rendering/

Quote:
Nearly three years after its market launch, the G05 BMW X5, and its M model, is preparing for a facelift. While the previous generation model F15 didn’t actually get a facelift, this new one will follow in the steps of other BMW models. It won’t be a major facelift, but rather some small and meaningful upgrades which will enhance the already good looks of the popular crossover. Recent spy photos point to a new headlights design, as well as some other upgrades to the front fascia.

Based on those spy images, the fellow at @magnus.concepts has decided to illustrate the X5 M LCI. As you can see in the image embedded here, the inner graphics of the headlights feature reversed eyebrows. The lower part of the front-end has also been redesigned to include larger air intakes and curtains. There is also a front lip, specific to the Competition model.

The biggest changes are saved for the cabin. Previous spy photos pointed to the large screens seen in the BMW iX flagship SUV, featuring a curved design and stretching across the entire dashboard. We also expect to see a series of tech upgrades, from the driving assistance systems to the new BMW iDrive 8. Trim and leather upgrades will most certainly be available as well.

We don’t expect any engine changes though. Powering the X5 M Competition is the same 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 that powers the X6 M. So it makes 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, which is the same amount of power as the BMW M5 Competition. So it’s very fast, almost too fast for such a big, heavy SUV. Though, it’s not any faster or slower than its X6 brother.

Pricing for the current model begins at $105,100 for X5 M and $114,100 for X5 M Competition plus $995 Dest. But it remains to be seen whether the recent chip shortages will increase the base price of the car in 2022.

This facelift rendering actually looks good. Is it a dramatic facelift? No, and that's why existing X5M owners shouldn't feel anything really. Some of the other facelifts (X3, 3) are not looking like improvements over prior model years.

Not sure how I feel about the new large single panel screen inside. I like the original dash better on this M car. We have an i4 M50 pre-ordered and I think it works well there being an EV.

Yes, some on here will say 2024 but it will be 2023. All the major sites say 2023.

Honestly i'm not really sure what BMW is doing lately. Typically the headlight halo design usually changes after a few life cycles but recently I feel like they can't decide what they want so it changes radically after every redesign. This new direction is looking more like an audi to me and BMW's no longer has a unique brand identity feature. Lets not talk about the grills because i can go on and on about how freaking ugly those have become on certain models.

I have to say I am tempted to switch car brands more than I ever with the way things are going with BMW designs.

I'll admit with some mods and a drop the pig face knuckle face is sorta growing on me as well but make no mistake it will never be hot or beautiful. Its also growing on me on a record slow pace compared to any other controversial design.

Its sad that you drop 90K for a car and you force yourself to like how it looks.

The LCI looks insane. Finally looks a little more "tech" than bruiser.

But really it's irrelevant. In two years after this comes out a new "complete redesign" will come out. And two years later an LCI of the complete redesign will come out. And so on and so on.

There'll always be a new model to get people feeling insecure about their current rig and leave them wanting more.

I must say i'm surprised that a niche model like the X5M needs to have a front bumper re-design ... can;t imagine there are that many X5Ms out there as a % of the total number of X5s sold. i would like to have been a fly on the wall at the meeting that signed it off, just to hear the logic / business case for the change

Seems about right. The main problem is that the M models are released a year after the regular model is out, which only gives it a 3 year window before the facelift comes around which unfortunately doesn't consider that the M car was released a year after.
The G05 was out late 2018 as a 2019 model so it makes sense that a 2023 model year is the LCI year (4 years).
