A little vague on the description. Whining coming from the rear could be from the rear differential. Whining from the front could be bad bearings on the driven accessories, tensioner or drive belt. The whining from the rear could also be from the mother-in-law or young kids. Whining could be anything.

Really, though, where is the whining coming from?

Hahah you right, the whining seems to be coming from under the hood somewhere I think, It gets louder as I accelerate, I can hear during idle as well.

Thanks for the help

OK, let's see if we can narrow it down a bit further. Front of the engine or rear? Passenger side or driver? Top of the engine or bottom?

My whining usually came from the passenger seat. "Slow down or you'll get a ticket!" Me: "I'd love to get a ticket, at this speed they usually throw you in jail!"

Front of the engine around the oil filter housing gasket I believe. Almost sounds as if it’s underneath it.

Does it sound like it is coming from the belt tensioner or above it just below the oil filter housing?

I can't think of anything there, other than the tensioner, that could make that noise.

Maybe post here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=421 in the N55 section of the forum.
