Very nice job. Maybe consider blacking out your emblems too or just remove them altogether.

i'm starting to look at options for replacing the grill and tips with gloss black...of course M performance options mean dropping a cool grand.
You will have to option Extended shadowline pkg. I think repaint or finding non-OEM replacement will cost similarly, but OEM parts are way more expensive, not to mention the M performance parts.

Detail solutions ceramic pro. Is the shop name. I think in order to black out the grille and tips, you need to buy pieces to replace.

Grille - just easier to buy a new blacked out one. Wrapping will be a pain and more of a headache.

Exhaust tips - can’t really wrap those since it’ll melt off from heat.

I’ll be going back to detail Solutions soon for a polish and ceramic coating!

Beautiful M2 btw.

He did, I had to buy the replacement but then was refunded for the defective wheel. It worked out and I was pleased with the seller but be advised, this guy isn’t making wheels that rise to the level of quality that an oem part would display 100% of the time.
Also, this is hugely important, buy the m sport stickers for wheels online. It’s a dead giveaway if your weels are missing those emblems.

Based on some historical posts here removing those exhaust surrounds is a hassle and requires taking apart the rear bumper. I think some folks have had success in masking/prepping/priming them and using a high temp black paint.

Heck even on the M-sport X5 (with "extended" shadowline - what a joke really since that didn't include the wheels) I just got - there is a dumb silver area around the exhaust that I may do the same with.

I wrapped mine and after 3 weeks they look just as good as when I installed the wrap. I did use Vivid gloss black specifically because it is far more heat resistant then the 3M 2080 and Avery vinyls I tested. I have found the tips to never get too hot too touch.

Question for you here - The wheels I ordered were...

21" - 21x9.5 +37mm offset FRONT / 21x10.5 rear +43mm offset REAR

Do you know if I will need to do a staggered tire setup or can I go square setup? Staggered has limited options and would like to have a spare in the back if I decide to go non-RF.

The wheels you listed are offsets/staggered. The rears are wider than the fronts. Tire rack has options I’m sure. I think the only issues right now with regard to stock is with 22’s.

Ah ok I figured. There are options for 275/40/21 and 315/35/21 but I cannot find any all reason + RF.

Since the wheels are staggered, the tired NEED to be staggered right? Sorry new to all of this.

You could buy a set of wheels that are square. The guy you’re dealing with on eBay has that option available. To answer ur question though-yes.

the tires should be staggered. if you put the narrower 275/40R21 wheels in rear to match the front, you’ll be dealing with stretch. if you put the wider 315/35R21 wheels in front to match the rear, they may be too loose, not to mention possible interference with the steering components. check the specs for each tire to see the range of wheel widths that fit.

all-season RFT in OEM 21” staggered sizes do not exist at all. I downsized to a square 20” 275/45R20 setup because of this

Do you know if I am go with a 265/40R21 and 295/35R21 staggered setup? The rim width recommendations fall right on the wheel specs I have ordered.

with those sizes being smaller than OEM, your speedometer will read a bit faster than actual speed. you must also take into account not just fit, but their load rating: are they safe for the weight of the X5? additionally, there’s the risk of running into warranty issues regarding the tires, steering components, suspension, transfer case, etc because of going with non-OEM sizes and/or non-Star tires. some dealerships and shops have refused to mount non-OEM sizes or even service these vehicles. **some folks are willing to take those risks**

Did you remove the tips and install the wrap? Or did the wrap while the tips were inside the bumper?

Wondering if this is an option over the cheap adhesive covers from Amazon

unfortunately, i purchased new off the dealership lot. they had the exact spec i wanted -- although it included the dumb parking assist option that i wouldve never paid for. it appears that the standard M sport package shadowline trim does not include the grill nor the exhaust tips. i actually like the bi-colored wheels...i would not have wanted nor ordered all black...but i know lots of folks like them.

we've gone back and forth over the past few days and have decided to leave it as-is for now. wife likes the shiny grill and doesnt care about the tips. i'm not going to change only one...

Standard M pkg only blacken window trim, lower grill trim, and roof rack. With your 740m wheels in alloy color, I think the whole car will look good even without extended shadowline pkg.

I personally think Parking Assist Plus is a must for large vehicle like this, and 360 is useful for me.

I think painting your grills will be the most budget-friendly way, and if you have a pair of talented hands and proper tools, you can DIY it. But for the tips, you may search the parts on eBay or Alibaba, as paint/wrap may melt due to heat.

Kept them on when I did the vinyl. Really wasn’t too hard.

to each their own, but i think the 20s are the right balance of wheel and sidewall for these vehicles. 21s arent too bad but apparently there's just not many tires choices. i just dont like the rubberband tire look with the 22s...but i know they're very popular. you got to do you.

I would also go with replacing the front reflectors to the body color. I'll try to post a photo of mine I did two weeks ago. Looks 1,000 times better after. You can get the inserts at
