Is there a setting within idrive or CarPlay to disable CarPlay from showing text messages when you have a passenger in the car? I still want notifications to show when I'm driving by myself.

I believe it is using the Notifications setting on the iPhone, probably just hit that off when you have passengers and you will be fine.

If you don't want a passenger to know your text, I suggest you always disable it and never use it. The time that the tech malfunctions and doesn't detect the passenger is the time you will get yourself in hot water.

You can do this in a couple of ways:
1. Enable Do Not Disturb on your phone. This will prevent any notifications from appearing on your car display when using CarPlay
2. You can mute specific contacts in the Messages app on your phone. This will prevent notifications from those contacts only, but allow notifications from other contacts.
