Sport Displays Show more power 07/2019.39

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
After I got my car back I noticed among other things the Sports Displays (SD) show higher ranges than before. They aren't up to what the M50i has so I've ruled that out. I'm wondering if this is BMW admitting the car makes more power than advertised? I haven't done a 0-60 pull yet to see if maybe something changed, which I highly doubt. Does anyone have a theory or explanation for why they'd increase the ranges on the SD?

My guess is they are a more accurate power display. BMW has vastly underestimated their performance specs on a lot of models. Real world dyno numbers from stock M cars are showing chipped level of performance. Unlike Domestic car companies, BMW fudges the HP numbers the other way. That speak volumes to what their cars are made of.

That wouldn't surprise me, although it's still very odd to change. I would think with all of the R&D they'd catch such a mistake in development. I know the HP/Trq values are calculated but mine to way past the stock levels 480HP/520-30 Trq is usually what it shows. I guess real world testing will show if something's different which again I highly doubt.

Well the old display numbers didn’t even allow for 50i total HP to be displayed. Looks like what the 40i should have. Looks like they just fixed it for 50i.

HUD shows the current cruise control speed Inna different way, it's greyed out but visible while on, then there's an icon above the distance bar showing its active that I don't recall being there before (see pic)

I'll take on when it's enabled but not active (I'd that makes sense) showing the greyed out set speed

under the nav cars option in the instrument panel it looks like a road, as you get closer to each turn the card gets closer. Some new completely useless apps which others have shown before. Climatize now shows up when you turn the car off, different font (ever so slightly). I could go on about all of th very subtle differences but those are a few.

The only one with to presumably the cars rated HP/Trq, this one goes above it. Hell, if they wanted to make it accurate don't show me a 45psi boost meter when the X5 50i peak makes 16-17 psi with launch control , or 25-16 normally. The 45psi is more suited for a diesel as you may have figured. If they wanted it to be more accurate I'd expect that to change too, except it didn't. I'm not sure we will ever know the real reason here.

.
On mine, the cruise control set speed shows in the HUD on that icon that looks like gauge(upper middle part of HUD) but only when you are changing with the set speed with the thumbwheel on the steering wheel.

Also, the cruise control set speed is marked on the speedometer in the instrument cluster too. I don't see that in your image, was cruise control on when you took that picture?

I have 2019 7.35

I was on 03/2019.xx before so the changes to which I'm referring are from that version vs the 07/2019.xx

It looks like in the 2nd picture it's displaying oil temperature & oil pressure? Can that also be displayed on the main instrument panel?

Thanks in advance, & sorry for the new guy post. I have a 2020 X5 M50i on order. It will be my first BMW and I'm trying to learn as much as I can before it arrives.

Sorry, but I remain uncertain about the conditions that produce this result.

in the driving directions panel? it wasn't there for me on 03/2019.xx Soni assumed it's new.

I did a quick 0-60 and 1/4 run in the lovely heat here. Nothing has changed. 4.4s 0-60, 1/4mike in 12.71 at 108 but that's with 91F and a 5900ft DA so. I can run a sub 12.5s 1/4 mile and 4.1s or less to 60 in a good day when it's not super hot

Your center instrument cluster looks different. How did you get that view? I just see an option to display the map or cards in the center of the cluster. I have 7/2019.35 I think.

that's the cards view and I'm on 07/2019.39 so I'm not crazy and it is slightly different than before

also here's the small HUD change. see how your set speed is greyed out while not active

how are you updating your software? are you actually going into the dealer requesting it? The remote upgrade obviously doest work on my Android or thru the settings on the car so just curious how people are getting theirs updated bc I keep reading different options and success stories. And is the new version worth it? I have a May build so I think i'm on .44. Thanks

They had to update it while replacing a module in my car. Worth it or not is up to you. No remote upgrades are going out unless it's a test or they accidentally pushed one to you

I just got the 07/2019.39 update as well. Took it in for the fuel pump recall and asked them to do the upgrade while I was there. Worth it for me as I was still having BC and carplay issues from a 03/2019 version I've been living with since April.

I noticed the HP/T updates in sport display as well. Other updates are indeed subtle but overall like the fact they are constantly tweaking to get the best experience.

yep, it's better but I wish we got the driving assist display like on the 2020 models. I'll code it someone if they don't let us have it

I really wish they would show what gear you're in on the HUD when in sport/sport plus. Is this possible at all anyone know?

It is on full ///M cars, otherwise no. Perhaps with coding, you can enable it
