Anyone put all season tires on the 21” wheels?
I’m not a fan of having summer and winters and storing 4 huge wheels/tires in my garage and I’m wondering if that efficiently restricts me to the 20s or if anyone have had success with all season tires on the 21s?

There is currently 1 AS tire available for the 21” wheel. This is why the 20” is really where the AS is offered. Even the new 2020 M50i will have the same 20” M wheel for AS. I have to have a AS tire for mix weather driving. Driving from PA to Florida in February has every kind of road surface and weather conditions. Last thing I want is to be driving on winter tires from South Carolina to Miami. On that same note, I would never be able to get home with summer tires from Virginia to PA as I always hit a snow/ice storm. The AS tires on my 20” M-wheels where outstanding on my last road trip.

I’m cross shopping the Cayenne and it Porsche’s 21” come with non run flat all seasons. I wonder if those tires can be fitted to the M341s or if the slight extra front width and lower rear profile would upset the tech and balance of the G05?
-Front axle: 9.5 J x 21 ET 46 with tires 285/40 ZR 21 -Rear axle: 11 J x 21 ET 58 with tires 315/35 ZR 21 -All-season tires It looks to be Michelins which are my favorite tires and the only tire brand I have bought the last 20 years. |

It's the law in Sweden to have a winter set so the demand for this kind of services from the dealer is high.

No DWS06 currently planned for 21" sizes
I emailed Continental last week and asked if they would be producing the DWS 06 is the 21" sizes. Response was nothing in the pipeline, so out of luck for now.
There is a correctly sized set from Pirelli in the Scorpion Verde All season line. I run All Seasons in the winter and performance tires in the summer. |

You may want to consider the new Michelin Primacy A/S tire that is coming on the new 2020 Mercedes GLE450 with 21 inch rims. The side wall is a bit thicker but will work with the X5.

IMO the 20s with all seasons is the sweet spot between style and practicality for the G05 for what I will use it for. The 21s are a bit too fragile with the shorter tire walls but I really like the design and the 20s just look a tad too small on the big brawny G05 body. I might end up going with the 20s after all but I plan to keep my next SUV 5-6 years at least so it would suck to see those 21s with regret for that long should I not warm up to the 20s...

Here you go. 22”ers look cool for around town but no way am I taking my family across the country in anything larger than 20” wheels. It’s not that the 20” wheels have a huge side wall but it’s more than the alternative. Besides a harsher ride there are too many issues with traction in mixed weather and horrific road conditions in different states. I travel too much to convince myself a narrow sidewall are up for the uncertainties of a real road trip. You will have to decide how and where you will be using your new X5. Best wishes on your journey. Last edited by MystroX5; 06-04-2019 at 04:27 PM.. |

If I'm running AS tires I want ones with AA traction rating because running a 50i with A Traction is not going to be fun. There are no AS tires with AA yet for the X5. Standard tire size is 275/40R21 and 315/35R21. The issue is how narrow the front wheels are at 9in, 275 might be the widest we can fit on there.

Has anyone tried Michelin Pilot sport 4 SUV tire?
good reviews but only A traction and 220 wear makes me suspicious. Also what about regular pilot 4s on an SUV. Load index of 106 in 275/45/20 is sufficient but it is still a passenger tire - will the sidewalls get chewed up and develop bubbles on pothole hits? |
