Thanks. I also went through Newbold. It left yesterday and will let you know when it arrives.

I'm about a month behind you and considering doing PCD. Please post about your PCD experience if you don't mind (and link here if you post in a different thread).

Thanks!

I'll post my experience, it will be on the 13th of September. Taking Amtrak there, we arrive in the wee hour of the morning. It will allow us to explore Greenville before the PCD experience. After PCD we are going to just drive straight home, have to get back to work. I really want to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway but short staffed at work.

Almost a really good day

Well, it arrived at the dealership today! Apparently it only takes 2 days for vehicles to travel from the Spartanburg factory to the St. Louis area. Some bad news: the lower tailgate took some damage during the trip and they are going to repaint it, meaning I probably won't get to take it home for another week or so. The vehicle looks good otherwise; the individual ash grain gray trim came out better than expected and I can't imagine it meshing well with any other interior color. The leather is very soft compared to what I'm used to and unfortunately I did not get to start it up or mess around with the iDrive system. I guess I get to cruise around in the Q7 or another week or so while they get everything ready. Here are a couple pictures for your pleasure I'll fix any rotated pictures later when I get home. Someone's X6 M50i came in on the same truck (sitting to the right) and happens to be the same color.

It is! It looks pretty good although I was really hoping I could get the Marina Bay blue without paying $5,000 for custom color.. probably could have even just lightened up tanzanite blue a couple shades but then again, that price for custom paint. It'll be okay, I'll eventually get that car.

Sorry to see the paint chip damage. I'm glad that it made it there so quick!

My 45e is still awaiting carrier assignment for shipping to Chicago.

Thanks. I'm in Western PA. If I do it, I'm hoping to drive my old car there and sell it to Carvana or CarMax in Greenville the day before. Otherwise will probably rent a car which will cost about $250 with gas. How much is Amtrak?

How long between the car being done and the appointment you were able to get? It sounds like it may have delayed when you get the car?

The trim looks great. Too bad about the paint damage; that sucks. Are they compensating you at all for getting a partially repainted brand new vehicle?

They haven't offered anything except that BMW will pay for the fix. I definitely blame the factory and/or carrier for not properly protecting exposed areas; what should I ask for from BMW and what is even reasonable outside of repainting it? I already purchased the tablet holders and didn't plan to buy anything else...the new cargo mat seems low quality and I was going to look elsewhere.

It is fortunate, I guess, that it's a small panel that stands alone. Could have been worse. Hopefully the paint match will be perfect. I'd want to make sure the repaint doesn't get reported to CarFax, KBB, etc. I'm not sure what I'd ask for as compensation, but I'd point out that I'm not receiving a factory finished car. If the paint job is excellent, it shouldn't matter in the long run, but it's kinda the principle of the thing.

I always go with WeatherTech mats. I think they're the best. I just asked them and they don't have 2023 versions spec'd out yet. When one comes, I think I'll take a chance that the 2022 will fit the same and order them. Maybe you can find out if the OEM mats they sell for the 2023 are the same part number for 2022 and that would give confidence that WeatherTech 2022 mats would fit.

I thought about renting a car but figured that I really did not want to drive 11 hrs and be completely exhausted when I get there. Amtrak is cheap @ 109 a person. Haven't ridden in a train for a while, but back in my college days I took Amtrak a few times to campus and always liked how relaxing it was. My wife is not comfortable flying or else we would had went that route.

I probably could had gotten the car this weekend if I did not do PCD but we are in no hurry to pick up the car.

Is that an overnight cabin on Amtrak, or just a coach seat? I also don't want to deal with the hassle of flying, its cost, change of planes, and all the delays that are happening right now.

If I can work out the Carmax/Carvana thing, I'll drive it down 2 days before so I have the whole day to deal with the sale. Drive is only 9 hours for me. The 2 hours makes a big difference.

I don't know if you're planning on making the long drive home after the long day at the PC, but my dealer told me if you need additional nights at the Marriott, you can call the hotel ask for the "BMW Transient Rate".

My prod date is today and status changed to Awaiting Carrier Assignment this morning. Called genius and they said the car has a carrier assigned and is expected to be delivered in 2 days. I'm in Bay Area, this estimate seems overoptimistic but we will see.

Wooohooo! Our X5 45e is now at status 153 - entering production line!

The production date was showing 8/26 this past week and we were originally a week 37 build at status 111.

Wow! My build week has been week 38 for some time. I jumped to status 112 today. I'm wondering if my build will move up 2.5 weeks like yours did. Would be great.

That would be awesome if you saw a big jump like that as well! Part of me wonders if my production date moved up like it did since my allocation was originally for a MY22 X5.

Did you have extended merino leather for your build and the luxury seating package?

Just curious for us stuck in QC.

I have been in 182 / Awaiting Carrier Assignment since Monday 8/22.

Destination is Chicago and to a higher volume dealer.

Genius advised on Thursday 8/25 that the vehicle had departed the factory and was due to the dealer on Friday 8/26.

As of today 8/27 CA indicates no vehicle on premises.

Strange…. I'm going to follow up with Genius on Monday if there is no posted status update.

It looks like BMW will provide some compensation in the form of a credit. Can't complain about the dealership since it seems they've been doing everything possible to get the vehicle to me quickly. I'm hoping to have it this week, which reminds me that I need to clean out the Q7 and get all of the accessories together.

You're coming from a Q7. Me too. I probably would have stayed with Audi if they had a PHEV in this size. But after watching tons of how-to videos, I think I'm gonna be thrilled with the 45e. My reminder list of all the stuff I need to remember to get out of and put back in the Q7 is getting quite long.
