Coding will be wiped out for any ECU that is updated. The easiest is to code everything after every update.

So the gesture control is working better, but still a little iffy sometimes compared to how it used to work. I'll keep playing with it a bit to see if it gets better/worse.

I’m on 11.2023.50 as well, just coded my car again this morning. I have the ASS button in my car so I can manually turn off ASS in Comfort/Eco modes (it’s off in any Sport mode by default).

However, coding ASS fully off or to memorize previous setting still doesn’t work.

He has been the only one to report that as far as I know so not sure what the situation is. He is in the UK so perhaps some difference in the software.

Driving to work this morning and car told me that 11/2023.50 was downloading in the background. So looks like I'm getting that version after all and it was downloading OTA. Didn't have to use my phone.

Mine was the same. I didn't need the MyBMW app to download and transfer the update. Everything was done OTA including the installation.

I updated, coded default to ASS off, Last State On.....it doesn't stick with default driving mode on adaptive.

Ended up recoding default mode to sport individual.


I have under Engine and Transmission in Comfort but seems like it revs higher than when in Adaptive under Sport Indiv.

Just got the software update option for 11/2023.50 but after reading here and a couple of other threads I am not going to upgrade as the ability to code ASS to off or to remmeber the previous state doesn’t stick. I will let go of every other feature to be uncodable but this darn thing is something I NEED lol. Hopefully some day BimmerCode will be able to release a program to have it working in all or at least the latest release by BMW.

I know it remembers it in sport but I prefer adaptive mode.

Happy to report that I've had a successful download and install of 11/2023.50 with absolutely no issues and no dealys. Have not played around to see what has changed, if anything...where I can tell the difference.

Just curious, but what is everyone's aversion to the Auto Start/Stop? I initially didn't want a vehicle with it but so far it hasn't been annoying enough to really bother me. The only times it has annoying me is if I am pulling into a parking spot, but it thinks Im coming to a regular stop and cuts the engine but I still need to go forward just a little bit, and when it comes on it kind of lurches forward.

it seems to be subjective tolerance. ASS doesn’t bother me either as far as the ‘jolting’ some don’t like… only when it cut off HVAC, but ever since we both got PHEV, it’s completely a non-issue.

I’m in Virginia where mid-Atlantic summers can be crazy humid. in our older bimmers, I could make the engine come back on by feathering the brake pedal, and that lasted several minutes before ASS shut it down again. I can feather it now on my PHEV (though not necessary since HVAC is powered by the HV battery, not engine), but even then, ASS shuts off the engine after idling just ~10 seconds, not minutes!

wonder if that’s the same on current ICE-only X5…

I have been all over the country and into Canada with it and ASS has never been a problem regarding AC. It all comes down to a person's preference, tolerance, understanding and even political leanings believe it or not.

And mine (both X5 and M340i) has always remembered it even after the 11/2023 update. I don't think there is a setting for it.

Mine is also a 2021. X5M, but I don't think that would matter for the following distance adjustment. It's something the way it seems like every vehicle has it's different quirks.
