I finalized my X5 50E order ~1/6 to a dealer that had an allocation. They estimated my car would be ready mid-March but I’m not sure I believe that the car will be ready that quick given production on the 50E is not happening for a month and folks production dates are being pushed.

Does anyone have any insight on how realistic that estimation is?

There is no halt to production for the 50e, it is continuing to be built just for specific orders though. Give Genius a call with your production number and they can give you your production week. Mid-March seems like it falls in line with others so quite possible.

I was told week 12 - End of March by a BMW Genius today.

Matches up with what I’ve been told. Ordered on 12/15 and been told Week 6, then Week 8, and now Week 12 today.

That's inline with what I was told as well. I ordered on 1/10/24 and was quoted an approximate time frame of 4-6 weeks. Called BMW Genius today and was told it's scheduled for Week 12.

I placed my order back at the beginning of December and was told by the dealer it’d be here by February. Then it was pushed back to March. Today called BMW Genius line and they said the start production week is now March 11, which means I won’t get it till end of April at best. Such a long wait for a car that’s not an all new model, just an update. No one at BMW can (or will) say why. 😔

I can tell you why they’ve slowed production down to work all the problems to update the parts that are giving them failures. They don’t want to say to anybody that they’ve stopped production that would admit to them having failure rates. With all the problems that people are having I wouldn’t touch this car order a 40i and Forget the hybrid, they’ll be worthless by the time you trade them in And if they live in the service department, what’s the point I don’t buy new cars to have them serviced. I get rid of old cars because they need service.

It's been about a month since you posted. You hear anything more about your order? I placed an order 2/21 and I'm wondering just how many months I'm looking at. Wondering if maybe I should just take my deposit and go with a 40i. Based on your experience I'd be looking at May or June which would really suck.

I placed my order on February 10th and my order is still on status code 105. On the day of the order the dealer told me 2.5 month. I am just here waiting patiently.

I'm thinking your dealer is being highly optimistic. AlexSF placed his early december and is looking at mid/late april based on his production week. Unless they are playing serious catch up we're looking at June at the earliest.

I hope it is sooner. The worse part about it is that I didn't even get a chance to test drive a 50e, if the dealer had it it was already reseved and was not allowed to drive it. I am glad that they do respect customer orders. Very hard to find here in Miami, FL.

105's likely will be getting their new production numbers this week.

My salesman mentioned that I would likely keep my production number. Based on what I have been reading, I should be getting a new one?

I ordered my 50e December 12th. Dealer had an allocation. Car was built this past Saturday. Now in quality check. Throughout the process genius gave me multiple production dates. In the end, they were right about the week when they told me about a month ago.

Figured. But since it was an ordered vehicle, does allocation come back into play? My vehicle was already allocated and ordered.

All 105's were custom ordered. BMWNA will switch your MY24 production number to a MY25 one.

Not knowing the specifics of what you are referring to it is hard to respond. All production numbers have a production week associated with them. What we are referring to are those that went to 105 and are being moved from MY24 to MY25, those don't have a week associated with them. Is that what yours is or did you just do an order?

I ordered it on Feb 10th and the paper work shows "105 no production week available", but I do have the production number and I was able to add it to my garage. Sorry, this is all new to me, hopefully this is a better explanation.

That is the situation we are talking about. That is a MY24 production number and will be getting replaced with one for a MY25 production.
