Weird Sound when breaking at low speeds

I started hearing the sound in the video on Sunday and dropped my car off on Tuesday to BMW. It's been a few days and they're not sure where the sound is coming from. The Foreman and Technician are still working on it.

This comes on top of another issue where my right fender is slightly sticking out. I have pictures from the delivery showing it was this way all along, and I just didn't catch it. I was supposed to drop it off at the body shop this week to get fixed, but now it's at the dealership for the rubbing sound.

Things could always be worse, so I'll remain optimistic, but it's not a good start to my BMW journey.

Uneven fender:

That does not sound good at all. Hard to imagine anything in the brakes thst could make that noise. I’d have it checked out asap.

sorry to hear you're having trouble.

When I first purchased my 2014 IS350 Fsport back in November 2013 (when the 3rd Gen IS had just come out) my side skirt was sticking out and it turns out it was just a clip that broke during transport causing it to stick out. Hopefully its just a clip on the fender.

As for the brakes, mine do squeal at low speeds, is that what you're experiencing?

Hard to describe the sound. There is a YouTube video link at the bottom of my post. If you watch it, you'll be able to hear the sound.

This is either a nail, a rear differential or something else...

I am having mine replaced (luckily under warranty...) car had been in for an oil change, the tech noticed a weird noise and identified a defective rear differential...

He said that noise sounds like a nail in the tire but it isn't...I can't hear anything, but he can...

It's been a week, and they are waiting for a BMW engineer now. They have removed the brakes and said everything looks good. Just playing the waiting game now.

Do you only hear the noise when you apply the brakes?

After 30 days of my vehicle being in the shop, an advisor scratching my rim, a BMW tech coming out, and threats of seeking legal advice on the lemon law, my vehicle was finally fixed, and I picked it up last Thursday.

The BMW tech recommended replacing some springs near the brakes, but that didn't fix the issues. They eventually ended up replacing the front brakes and rotors. They also fixed my rim and replaced the tire that the advisor had scratched. Additionally, they are giving me a $1,500 check for the inconvenience and a $500 gift card for the dealership. I'm happy to have my car back and for it all to be over at this point.

glad you have it back and BMW compensated you for your troubles. Still baffles me what in the brake system would cause that noise

Yea, I'm not sure. It might have gone away on its own, but for a brand new $140k+ vehicle, I wasn't going to take any risks. I have a neighbor who owned a previous generation X7 M50i, and she said her vehicle was in because of the brakes multiple times. Hopefully, that won't be my experience.
