Braking - Coming to a complete stop
I really like how the car brakes on freeway/high speed but I'm not sure if it's me/my car, I always have this abrupt stop when approaching to a full stop from a slow speed. No matter how soft I break, I always get this feel when the car completely stops. Anyone else experiences the same? Is this a normal behavior? Anything I can do to eliminate/reduce this feel?

is Auto Hold enabled? if so, that's the parking brake engaging.
if not, I recall an old thread about this but can't remember the actual issue |

Do you have MSport brakes? They can grab more than standard. Going back and forth between the X5 and M340i I have to use different pedal pressure and timing.

So it's not just me/my G05... I have std brake and Auto Hold off. I can tell you... I have one of the lightest/most sensitive feet. It's not what I want but I can deal with it. It's the passenger. "Why did you brake so rough?"

Not sure we can conclude that. I have the standard brakes and they are very smooth. There is no grabbing or sudden stopping like with the MSport brakes. If it continues you may want to mention it when you take it in for an oil change.

I have to say that my experience has been the same as TurtleBoy: I have found the non-M brakes of my 45e to be very sensitive but smooth in braking at low speeds and extremely powerful and precise when braking at highway speeds. Perhaps you should have them checked by the dealer if not too far from where you are? I totally understand the annoyance and it is something that should be addressed. |

That’s how my driving instructor taught me to brake and I’ve been doing it instinctively for the last 20 years. That’s pretty much the only way to brake smoothly.

I'm not sure if I described the experience correctly. The braking process is fine and smooth. It's just right at the moment when the vehicle completely stops. It feels so sudden almost like you hit a wall or similar to when PDC brake kicks in. Maybe I will test drive another G05 to see if the experience is the same before I have service check it. I only have one "passenger". Should I ditch too? They do, don't they? |
