As mentioned in your other thread, your salesman is wrong. Tell him you will be using the domestic military incentive and send him your certificate, all should work.

Yes sir. I will let him know later today and report back.

I am non-military though. Maybe that's why he said no.

You do not need to be in the military to use the incentive, you qualify for it by having a PenFed account for more than 60 days. If you are able to get the certificate you are qualified and there is no other questions/qualifications they need to worry about. You could have qualified because your dad was military, you were previously national guard, you had a USAA account, etc. it does not and should not matter to them.

I opened my Penfed account on 10/30, and do not yet have the offer code from Penfed. Is this something that they will send (email, etc) or you have to actively generate - not sure how…?

Also, what does it mean that the certificate will expire on Jan 3rd? Do I need to wait another 60 days from now to generate a new one?

Thanks in advance!

You have to generate the offer certificate. Go to the Car Buying service and you will see the BMW offer.

It is a year-long incentive that is renewed each January. Once it has been renewed then you can generate a certificate that will be good this year.

Perfect - I was able to generate the offer, however it expires on Jan 3rd. Will generate another one in a couple of days! Thanks for the help!

I just went to penfed auto page trying to generate a new code for BMW, but BMW is no longer there. Hopefully it is just that they are slow updating the page...

The amounts for the incentive have changed and it has been reported that the incentive has been pulled from PenFed. I would wait a few days to see if it comes back due to the update.

Here are the updated amounts which now vary depending on where the dealer is located.

Being a member of PenFed for more than 60 days is no longer a qualifier for the domestic military discount. If you or your family has a connection to the military or are a member of USAA or NFCU then you can get the incentive on BMW's site or TrueCar.

Has anyone gotten an official response from PenFed about this?
Are they actively pursuing getting BMW back on the list?
It's interesting that Mini is still listed. This seems to indicate that a change in corporate policy is not the reason that BMW is missing.
Given that Mercedes remains on the list and the intense competition between the two companies, I would think that BMW would want to also be there.

It it not up to them to get BMW back. The information that I have is that BMW pulled it because a few years ago PenFed merged with another credit union and they lifted their limited membership so they no longer fit into the domestic military discount qualifications.

Mini being on there is a web site mistake. Clicking on Mini will take you no where.

Does going through BMWFS change anything like it did with Penfed?

The incentive changed this year in regards to amounts differing depending on where you are located and what happens when BMWFS is used. See the screenshots I posted above for what happens in your area. Assuming your name is the state, there was no change for you as it is still $500.

I still don't see BMW listed under "Additional Cash Allowance from Select Manufacturers" section on Penfed's Car Buying Site. Has anyone used the incentive this year?

BMW dropped PenFed from the Domestic Military program due to its open membership policy. In addition to using ID.me on BMW's and TrueCar's military site, Navy Federal CU membership now qualifies a person for the incentive.

Is the Navy Federal CU the only CU that qualifies for the rebate? Do you know if there are any loopholes to become member like donating to a vet charity?

Yes they are and you need to go through their TrueCar portal in order to get the certificate. I don't believe so (other than family and DoD), when I joined I had to give my service information.

You can also generate a certificate straight through BMW if you have an "verify with id.ME" account. https://www.bmwusa.com/special-offer...incentive.html
I think this only works for Active/Veterans, not sure if you can generate an id.ME account otherwise.

It works for all qualifications except the NFCU membership. For example, if you are using USAA as the qualification then ID.me will ask for your login credentials and verify your account.

No PenFed Discounts

I got 4k off my x6m December 2020. I pray they bring this back. With the current residuals and money factors sucking nutz. I need some discount.
