Favorite Merino Leather Color

Hi everyone,

We just sold our Tanzanite over Tartufo X5 50i and are waiting on our allocation for a new 45e. My wife wants to go with Alpine White this time. She loves the Ivory White Merino leather and I agree that it looks amazing but I also really like the black and coffee colors. I've scoured the internet (and this forum) for pictures of the various interiors. What are your faves? Any new photos would be awesome!

P.S. We had a space grey over ivory F10 535i. I undertand the merino is better than the nappa in the 5er.

2. White with Blue (I wear jeans all the time, so no) same goes for White
3. Black (but enough)
4. Coffee - I like coffee (on order)

We have extended coffee merino in our X7 and I really like it. I had mocha Nappa in my 5 series but like the coffee better. Seats Looks great with the lux seating package. Also he cognac in past but still think coffee is my favorite.

"Better" is a difficult term here.

Merino has significantly less surface treatment than the other leathers that BMW offers - including the soft nappa that BMW offered earlier in the Individual program (in the 5 series, the E39 was the last one to have it).

So, "better" as in "more natural" and "softer", yes, it is that. It is also significantly more difficult to keep clean if you're anal about it. The thing is, with the darker colors, some dark marks from clothing are easier to ignore or sort of become "character". With white, practically anything on the surface falls into the category "dirty" for me. So for me - who doesn't enjoy car cleaning a whole lot - anything light than the red (not available for the X) is a clear "no".

Also, there's one more thing: at least for some of the colors - if you get the ventilated seats - the perforated parts won't be Merino, but Vernasca instead. Not sure if that is true for White.

Same here… Coffee in our X5 M50 & had Mocha in our 550 before that. Both with Alpine White. Really like both but think Coffee wins.

White w/ blue for me. Goes nicely w/ Arctic Gray exterior.

Nope, when it was brand new we applied ceramic coat for the leader....the car is almost two years old...almost the same.

We have had 3 G05's now, all with coffee, you might guess what our answer is. Black is too easy.

Personally I would never have a white interior on a car that is driven regularly.

Personal taste… yada, yada, yada.

That said we have Mineral White with Tartufo and are absolutely delighted.

Curious do you know which brand of ceramic coating you used?

Do you wear jeans often, and in particular, get in the car with damp jeans from the rain/snow?

And would you wipe them clean regularly?

I'm really curious how well the ivory holds up. Love the colour but every time when it comes to ticking boxes, I go scaredy cat.

We hemmed and hawed re: tartufo vs coffee and we’re very happy with the tartufo. Definitely not for everyone, but after years of black and grey leather, it’s a nice change.

Coffee For Me not Tea

I like the mature look and contrast (dark gut and lighter paint) in coffee merino blended with white mineral metallic paint. I also like the poplar matte trim because the shade blends perfectly with coffee merino. I like to avoid the fingerprint marks that accompany glossy trim alternatives. The interior flows for me with my scheme.

I thought about Tartufo Merino . It is a more youthful and sporty look to me. Beautiful, no doubt. I personally prefer elegant over sporty aesthetics. So, for me, coffee is my favorite. My youthful days have passed; thus, my eye gravitates toward my definition of elegance.

Translation please?
Remember European order guide and US are not equivalent. I'm jealous of the sports seats you guys can get.

Seats, headrests and armrests in leather Merino
(Only in combination with comfort seats at the front)

Note: If optioned, active seat ventilation at the front, seats perforated in Vernasca leather

In conjunction with M Sport package or xLine

This was just a copy to demonstrate where I got the info regarding the partially different leather type for ventilated seats. This won't be different for the US. They don't do a different production for parts of the same leather item. Either you get that option in a country or you don't.

Regarding the sport seats: that isn't quite as exciting as it sounds. When you chose them over here you can get either Leather Cognac Vernasca or Extended Merino Black, and that's it.

I'll recheck earlier MY19-20 DE guides. I don't recall seeing luxury seating + Merino with Vernasca perforation in the early production guides.

BMW Pressclub still has a download for the German 09/2020 price list - same situation (https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/deuts...nd?language=de)
