Actually quite an appreciable difference between the 2 cars in favor of the M50i; 523hp vs. 456hp, 553 torque vs. 479 torque.
Wait, I thought the engine and HP were identical. Didn't realize the power is different. That just a ecu programming difference? Engines are identical, right?
No, not identical. Newer one has different version of N63. I just tuned mine up to 580HP so I'm fine with it

I usually research everything but I missed it. Can’t believe it. Of course I want the m50i now.

Its much more than that. The M50i is definitely a notably different beast tuned by the M division, not just something with a few M parts slapped on. The N63 engines are similar but have different engine codes because of enhancement differences.
Here's the tip of the iceberg for the M50i compared to the 50i:
-523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, increases of 67 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque over the 50i
-engine block made of an aluminum alloy, a viscous damper on the crankshaft, stronger pistons and piston rings, and an iron coating on the cylinder walls
-tweaked eight-speed automatic with launch-control
-M tuned suspension
-adaptive dampers
-M Sport exhaust system
-bigger M Sport brakes
-And more features were included as standard on the M50i vs the 50i

Search the forum and the web and see what people's impressions were driving the 2 different models.

Appreciate the detailed response. Can you comment if the tuned transmission, dampers, and m sport exhaust are also the same if the 2019 has m sport package?

As long car has M sport it has all that. Some items were options like performance exhaust but my car came with it. I just had dealer find me X7 50i and giving me $73K for my X5. They want my x5 badly, they will give me a loaner (x7 40i) till they find X7 since they have a buyer for my car

Engine is biggest thing

I’m going to look at one tomorrow. 2019 fully optioned with Msport, premium, executive, driving assistance pro, luxury seating, merino leather, leather dash, m sport brakes, remote start. The only items it’s missing that I wish it had are alcantara roof and 22” wheels. They are asking under 69k for 20k miles certified. Wish me luck, hope the car checks out.

Garage List
The M50i started in MY 2020. Having a M50i and previously a '16 F15 50i. Big difference in power and overall excitement in driving. Throw at RaceChip GTS black or JB4 on the 50i and you will be fine. That being said, you will have a difficult time finding one with your desired specs in great condition. This market is ridiculous.
I would recommend adding DHP to your list.

The sales guy made me take a 3hr trip one way…

Wow… that’s unreal that they would do that, serious BS. Hope the hunt goes better, soon.

Can't be worse than seeing one you are interested in drop in price, you contact them and as they are working on numbers for you for an out the door price, they change the price to be $2.5k more expensive. The kicker to it all is that after I walked away, the price is again down to what I had seen when it dropped before I showed interest.

Your car is super nice I would buy it in a heartbeat if the price was a bit better.

Ty! I’m actually considering just buying new and trading in my garage queen s6. Toying with idea of x5M if I trade in which will result in a good bit of equity.

Market is crazy, I was actually interested in another CPO priced around 72k with all the options. During the process, they send me pics that someone damaged it pretty badly which required new side skirt, door repainting, and quarter panel blend in. The kicker was that they told me they were raising the price due to market conditions by 2k but said that they will still honor the original price if I decide to proceed. There is no way I said and laughed at their face. I’m not paying 70K+ for repainted car!

If you want to match my dealers trade in offer, let me know. I don't save taxes on trade in since my registration state has no taxes
