The M Sport exhaust also has the Y-pipe with dual inlets to the rear muffler.

The biggest difference, now that I've compared the diagrams, is that the M Performance exhaust appears to have removed the front muffler. I'd guess that's the biggest reason that it's louder.

M Sport Exhaust must be included only on non-US X5s. I have a 2020 X5 with M sport package but have the muffler with only 1 pipe as shown in the included image. Would love to eventually do the MPE that I previously had on my 335 and current m2.

In Australia at least, the M Sport exhaust was an additional option separate to the M Sport pack.

That makes sense. Wish that was an option in the US to upgrade over stock.

snickryder, which dealer did your install? The more I drive the X5, the more I miss the sounds from my X3 M40i.

Any shop can do the install. My local shop installed my M performance exhaust with no issues.

Any shop won't keep the warranty on the parts intact though. A dealer that will install oem parts that they didn't supply is also a good find.

I wouldn't worry to much about this. Installing an exhaust is not complicated especially since the MPE install on the G05 doesn't require any cutting or touching of the cats. Dealer service department will also never know since its an OEM BMW part and could of been bought with the car already. I had mine installed at an indy shop for $150 took them less than an hour.

I was under the impression there is a software component to the MPE install? is this not the case?

Not for my install, but can't say that's true for everyone, everywhere. I just wanted the sound and then added a RaceChip on my own. Super happy with both.

Whoa there cowboy ... so tell us about the RaceChip... how well does it work / boost in performance, 0-60 numbers?

I went with the GTS Black version with the app. Honesty, it's great. Had it on for about 10k miles, with zero issue. Run it daily in Sport mode (set to 4) and have Race mode available (set to 7) with the app. Super easy to install and setup. App is definitely worth the $50. Performance is improved, but I don't have dyno numbers or times to back it up. Funny thing is you get so used to it that you forget it's there. Then you turn it off to see if you really needed it, drive normally, and are just left wanting cause it's just not the same without it. Worth every penny for me.

That's awesome. I'm satisfied with the performance of the 40i engine but I may need to look into getting one. Having both the MPE and RaceChip would be great.

It's a great combo and I enjoy it daily. The MPE really screams above 3500-4000 rpm. Two thumbs up from me. 👍👍

My 340i has the MPPSK and that exhaust sounds amazing, plus it is valved and comes with a tune. Wish BMW would do the same for the G05. I think the MPPSK was also cheaper than this M performance exhaust

No concerns with warranty? I would like to do this but I'm concerned with motor issues going forward. Dinan just came out with one too.

I mean there is always a concern. However, the whole concept of the piggy back systems is that they don't interfere with the DME and keeps the factory thresholds in place. Or something like that anyway.

That said, that's also a reason I went with the GTS Black that has an "engine warranty" through RaceChip. It's a little questionable as to when this would be invoked because they only get involved if BMW denies a claim. However, it's a nice backup just in case.

Really just comes down to personal choice, how you drive and the risk you want to take. For me, it's worth it.

Does the MPE exhaust have any drone at all like on the highway or when cruise is in going up a slight incline?

For some reason my googling skills are lacking it seems, been looking for an exhaust for my 21 40i and didn’t find that there was an MPE available. Is there an MPPK available, anyone know?

It has no drone. I have a catless DP and the MPE with no issues. You should be able to find the exhaust on BMWpartspros.com part #18-30-2-458-780.

Found it here
