2022 45e w/Gloss Black 741M's

I ordered a 2022 G05 X5 45e and took delivery yesterday. This X5 is replacing our 2018 F15 X5 35d M Sport, on which I had the factory 20" 469M wheels in gloss black (from the factory). Both the old and new X5 are Alpine White M Sport models. I added the extended shadowline exterior trim on the new model and really wanted the wheels to match. Unfortunately, as you may know, BMW does not offer a gloss black option on the 45e at this time, only with the other models as a 22" sized wheel. I understood that the 45e does not have room for a spare tire, due to the battery in the rear underfloor area. So, this model requires run flat tires, which are limited to 21" - which I prefer anyway. So, long story short, I had my dealer powder coat the 21" 741M's in gloss black. The finish turned out identical to my 2018's 469M wheels (I included some shots of the 2018 as well for comparison). I could not be more pleased with the finished product. I believe BMW should offer this wheel and others in gloss black from the factory - go ahead and charge us a bit extra - it would be great to have the option. I had looked everywhere online for others that might have done this when I was considering it and was deciding on the order configuration. I recently also took delivery of a 2022 M3 Comp xDrive with the 826M's - also in gloss black, they were available in bi-color or gloss black from BMW. I am obviously partial to this finish on my wheels. I hope this is useful to someone else also considering this. I am in Southern CA and my dealer had a great local wheel shop they contracted with. I would definitely recommend this if you have a good wheel shop that can guarantee their work.

Here are some interior pictures as well - just in case anyone was interested in what Tartufo Merino Individual leather or the updated 2022 Brown-Metallic Ash Grain wood trim look like. I had originally chosen Fineline Strip Brown High Gloss wood trim - but that was removed for 2022, so this was the new gloss wood trim option. One thing to note - on other models like the 5 series, Tartufo has a cream/light grey contract stitching. Whereas, with the X5 and X7, the contract sticking is dark brown (almost black). I prefer the darker contrast stitching. Unfortunately, BMW does not give you the option to choose the contrast stitching - even on their BWM Individual interiors like this. So you should always keep in mind to check what the stitching shade is.

Thanks for the post. I just picked up my 2022 X5 45e last night. Instead of sourcing new wheels, I like the idea of powder costing with gloss black. Is it
possible to provide me the company that you had them done? Thanks!

Most likely to be Dravit Grey - too dark to be Skyscraper Grey Metallic.

Congrats on the new G05. Looks great w the wheels powder coated black. I had my wife's X7 22's powdercoated black for the same reason, bmw simply didn't offer it. I agree w you, they should offer more wheel options in black, most would gladly pay extra. Enjoy your new 45e, and nice G80 btw.

So sorry I did not respond on this earlier. I hadn't been paying attention to this thread that I started as I thought everyone lost interest. I got the wheel company from my dealer, Crevier BMW in Santa Ana. They were originally WRS and now go by OC Wheel Repair - https://www.ocwheelrepairs.com/ - they were quick and did a fantastic job in my new X5. The dealer brought the car to them before I took delivery. The cost was very good as well.

It's Dravit Grey Metallic Individual. It is a dynamic color with gold metallic. It changes depending on the sunlight conditions, sometimes gets an olive tone and others gets more of a Nardo like effect - just a bit darker. I chose it with Kyalami Orange interior. They actually offer it in the X5/X6/X7 as well.

Sorry to divert my own thread with M3 pics, I have these and others on another post in the G80 forum as well.

Thanks for the feedback - I took delivery a couple of weeks apart on these orders and am still very much loving them both.

Great looking and congrats. Just an observation and interesting, your comment about the lighter stitching on the seats; the door panels and other trim in the cabin are the dark stitching. Good luck with your X5.

Nice spec! I just recently put in an order for the same spec, since Mercedes couldn't allocate the GLE 53 that I wanted. Since the gas prices have skyrocketed I thought I'd take a plunge on a hybrid. Since BMW doesn't offer the 22" in black, I ordered the exact same rims that you have. With that being said I'm thinking about taking this route with having the wheels powder coated black. Do you mind me asking how much it set you back? Just want an idea of how much it's going to cost me. Thanks in advance!
