I'm not following your problem. It is supposed to show 164ft when engaging it and then it counts down as you go backwards and then stop when it hits zero. Does yours not count down?

There was a bad video out there showing the person hitting the button to record where it was going and then going backwards, maybe that is the video you saw. your path is always being recorded to so need to do that.

Yeah, I just finished more detailed testing and I also reviewed additional videos. Now, I have a better understanding of how it works and I confirm it works fine.

You're absolutely right, I was initially confused with that bad video!!!

Sample Now we definitely know that USS and ACSM5 are needed for VO coding at least, assuming that a car has Driving Assistance Professional Package".

You didn't code KAFAS4?

So for sure we need HU_MGU, ACMS5, USS.

We need someone to try SAS3 and BDC_Body3 to check if they are needed. I'm guessing it's SAS3.

Yes, In my case the backup assistant has become available without coding KAFAS4.

Hi everyone! I tried posting this request to the G29 forum with no replies so far, hoping to find better luck here

My Z4 M40i was just delivered (Italy) with the infamous touch screen deletion issue (marked as 6UY when doing a VIN lookup). The dealership has not been particularly helpful, except offering some extra credit towards buying accessories. They broke the news to me just 1 day prior to taking delivery. I was obviously outraged but did not feel like refusing the car and taking the gamble of waiting several more months only to know this time chip shortage could affect other components.

Now I’m looking at retrofitting a touch-enabled replacement display but I am stuck with uncertain information regarding the correct part number. When I enter my VIN in any parts catalogue, I am finding part 65505A0E6C0 which, I am afraid, is a component they purposely coded for non-touch replacement displays. Everyone I know seems to point me towards part 65509441889 instead, which should be the default 10.5" display for left-hand drive G29 cars. Is anyone with a similar 2021 G29 (M40i, end of 2021) able to find the correct touch-enabled replacement display for a VIN that does not belong to a car that was affected by touch-deletion ? Thank you!

I have new X5 without touchscreen. I contacted Bimmer tech and they said they had a retro fit that would work on my 2022. I am assuming that this thread is discussing this upgrade, but I was curious from the time the the tread started till 3/2022, have they gotten the retro fit to work without problems?

this thread started last year after he DIY retrofitted. no aftermarket solution existed at the time so this was all on the OP's trial and error experience

I am getting ready to order the screen. I was curious if anyone that has previously ordered one has had any issue with the screen or the order process.

I ordered one and had a minor issue with the dealer. These displays are refurbished and after I installed it, months later the screen developer small bubbles under the screen on the ride side top corner. I sent pictures and contacted the dealer and they kept saying it's not an issue since it doesn't impact the functionality. Finally they offered me a $50 credit. I'm sure most people wouldn't notice it, but it bothered me and I learned to deal with it since it does still work without any issues.

Sample, this is great but I'm not have the same success on a '22 m50i.

When I try to activate the original FA I get en error:

No FP could be generated "". [C002]
Not all elements of the FA were found in the FA2LP: SALAPA 6NS SALAPA 6UY

The 6UY we know and I've come to find out 6NS is enhanced bluetooth.

It's like the PSdZ file I have from the install I found doesn't recognize some codes. I don't know where to find a newer data file.

I'm a mac guy so this whole thing is groping in the dark. It was all I could do to get the E-Sys thing installed and connected on a borrowed PC following the instructions on a YouTube video, "How to install and use ESYS - Easiest Guide".

I was able to get the OBD connection working and all that so I feel like I'm close.

Please advise.

Also, I was able to edit and save the 6UY deleted xml file while maintaining the 6NS.

I did try to code with the edited version, but it tries to do an FA on the edited file and doesn't like the existence of 6NS (no FP could be generated...)

What are you choosing when connecting to the car? What versions of the PSdZData are you using? I'm not an expert, I just posted what I did to code my car after doing research on coding. There are a lot of videos that are wrong, so I guess follow what I posted and reference the pdfs that I listed for clarification/more detail.

I did some hunting around and may have found a newer data file. I installed it, but have yet to try it out. I'll do that tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply.

I also posted some detailed instructions (pdf) that leveraged a lot of what Sample did in order to code my 22 M50i. Had no issues with the files I got from the site referenced in the PDF that I posted. I also used a MacBook, but had installed Bootcamp so I could boot a windows versions and ESYS worked without any issues. Definitely make sure you have the latest version of the files, select right model when connecting, and then following those coding instructions exactly.

OMG! Yes you did and I downloaded your pdfs a couple of days ago. I forgot I had them.

It took a while to download, unpack, and install the new PSdZData data file I found. I just went back out the garage to try it and no more activation errors! I then loaded my 6UY deleted copy and no activation errors on it either.

I'm ready for the actual coding. Tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help.

I'm back needing to code for the touchscreen again. The remote update cleared the coding and the feature is gone. Lesson learned.

Unfortunately now my copy of E-Sys launcher complains that the EST Software Token is invalid. I do get Launcher PRO to bring up a window with E-Sys available to launch, but the invalid token error comes up again and the app quits.

So far searching for a recent up to date version has not been successful.

A free copy would be best of course, but some kind of reasonably priced solution is a possibility. A local guy says he'll do it for $120. Seems pretty steep.

Advice?

Thumbs up

I just did the touchscreen swap yesterday in my wife's X5.

Thanks to all of the documentation and the kind souls that share the PSdZData files, it went without a hitch!

Happy wife, happy life.

Question

I am planning to do this for my X7. Do we need to code again, after every remote software update?
