Carbon Fiber Splash Guards

Anyone running these splash guards? I’d like to know more about the quality/fit.

After lowering and putting spacers on my car the lower portion of my doors/side skirts look really beat up. I’m sure it’s from all the road elements hitting that part of the car.

Since my car is BSM it shows everything and it’s driving me nuts.

Unfortunately, the ppf will get chewed up as well. After about a year and a half I have to replace the ppf panel behind the front wheels because of sandblasting from road debris. I’m considering these cf flaps as well.

I just had these installed on my 23 x5mc after having the rockers and basically whole front doors re painted because of the rocks and pebbles destroying my car. So I had these put on and they are helping for sure but I do notice it's happening again. I was going to install some ppf also. I'll take a few pics first chance I get.

There really should be a factory option for splash guards to protect those rockers since that front tire really sticks out way past the rocker and destroys the side of the car.

Do you live in place that gets snow?

Upstate NY winters get brutal and I have a ton of snow build up in the wheel wells. I’m worried the weight of the snow will cause theee to come off.

Doesn’t seem like any hardware is used to install?

No hardware just 3m VHB. I talked to them on instagram and expressed the same concern with snow in Canada. They told me they stand behind their product and fastening method, if it falls off they will replace it. Guaranteed for life. Just trying to justify $250 USD/ $350 CDN for splash guards.

Fwiw here’s the conversation

I’ve been reading reviews on these “originalcarbonguards” and it seems a lot of people have had issues with this company. It’s on the Reddit wrx site and rivian site. Promises made but never deliver. There guys been waiting for 11 months. The conversation I had over IG seems typical from what i have read. For those that have ordered from this company what was your experience? How long from order to actually received them.

Exclamation

Just a warning before anyone orders from the original carbon guards, carbonguards, shadowcraft Google this guys name Johnny Perez and decide for yourself if your hard earned money is worth the risk. Tesla, BRZ, Lexus, lotus, wrx, jaguar, rivian, Porsche forums to name a few all warn to stay away. Numerous incidents that this guy scammed these forum members and took their money and never delivered. Seems to be working the car forum community by signing up , delivering a couple legit orders to gain confidence then takes other members orders and then does a Houdini and disappears. All the reports and excuses are basically the same MO. BBB has also complaints registered. I’de hate to see any member fall into this trap so buyer beware. He seems pretty slick in the IG interactions I had with him. I’m going to pass doing business with this company.

The item is functional, especially if you have spacers and want to avoid rock chips. However, I cannot imagine spending $250 so I made my own using CF sheets from Amazon (I think it's marketed for drones). I fastened with 3M tape and a single plastic rivet - holds up very well including long trips in the rain etc. All in less than $40.

Edit: I did front only. Rear doesn't make sense - not sure why people think rear is needed.

I too did my own. I used 3M dbl sided tape and they seem to hold great although I did lose one of the front guards (upstate NY winter). Not sure what happened but since I made them myself and had more material, it was only a matter of spending 15 minutes of my time to cut, sand and install the missing guard. I think I remember seeing a post a while back with templates but I made my own by starting with cardboard (from a cereal box) and clipping them in place with small binder clips so I could stand back and look and then tweak the cutout until I was happy. You obviously only need one template for the fronts and one for the back (if you are doing the rears). All in I have at most an hour in the project. I enjoyed it and I’m happy with the results. Note, I didn’t use a carbon sheet since I don’t have any carbon on mine (except interior) but I’m happy with the poly sheet I bought (textured on the side I have facing the wheel, semi gloss on the side fact the bodywork) and it would be the same process if you’re using carbon.

I made my own way in the beginning. Just order .5mm carbon sheets on amazon then get a good pair of scissors to cut. after getting it to the shape you desire lightly sand the edges so its smooth and use 3M tape to mount. Super easy and it makes a HUGE difference in minimizing rock chips along the side of the car.

Nice work. Going to try and replicate.

Any place special to get the material? What size sheet is needed to do two of them?

I did see your post. Looks great. I have 3 pcs of 0.5mm CF sheets 200mm x 300mm should be enough for 3 I'll get another sheet if I decide to do the rears as well.

My experience was good. I contacted them via their site and he cut them same day and over night shipped to me next day. 2 days turn around after I paid. I mean if you get scammed just call your cc company and you are protected anyway. How can you get hurt?

edit: The most annoying thing is that BMW doesn't make a part for us to protect this side of the car themselves? That's pretty ridiclous considering how bad these cars get hit with rocks and pebbles.

Cad motorsports flaps worked perfectly for me. After 1 year and 8k miles, no more peppering on the rockers and lower doors.

I bit the bullet and ordered from carbon guards. After messaging the seller on IG and sending him links from forums/Reddit pages he assured me everything will be ok.

He said they ran into production issues in the past and couldn’t deliver them in a timely manner.

I also explained to him I will be wrapping my car so I can’t install them directly to the factory paint. He includes some plastic pop rivets for me to try as well.

Anyways I got my tracking number within 24 hrs of placing my order. I’ll update everyone when the item arrives.

Yes please keep us posted. When you get them, before you install them could you take a picture of them on a flat surface to we can see the profile.
