Cleaning blemishes on center hvac vent on top of dash

Hi!

Any idea how to clean the hvac vent on top of the dash? A detailer touched it with paper towel and now I can get it clean.

What rag and solution should I use?

Alcohol? Will it lift the finish?

yah, sounds like you mean the center speaker grille on top of the dash

a sticky lint roller or strong tape should work. fabrics do get caught in there so wouldn’t use a fabric lint brush

Used coverall- a ceramic cleaner for plastic. Seemed to do the trick for now.

I had a broken windshield replaced and figured what the heck- let the detailer at the dealership have it it. It’s the only thing she couldn’t perfect.

Inteior is night and day. Highly recommend recon if your a perfectionist. I couldn’t achieve these results on a weekend. BMW even gave me a loaner which is key I think.

So any adhesive style lint roller would make it worse.

Turns out a ceramic cleaner does the trick and is not shiny.

I went rogue with coverall (ceramic cleaner) and a black rag. Good result

I wonder if this stuff would actually work for that grille.

Cool stuff. But the residue I had needed a cleaner to wash it away.

Glad I didn’t use alcohol but was close to trying. I think it would have striped the painted finish.

This Coverall stuff by Superior was great. Not shiny. Just cleaned it off and looks factory.

I use a shop vacuum with the brush attachment. It works well.

Right- but if someone uses paper towels and “cleans it”- the residue is almost impossible to remove

I was almost thinking of remove/ ordering a part to replace.

Whatever the plastic coating- don’t touch it unless you have to…

Yes I learned that when I first cleaned it with a microfibre cloth and it grabbed it. I had the yellow stuff on there for a while before I got around to cleaning it. The brush tends to lossen the debris while vacuuming. Give it a try. Otherwise some kind of lint remover or packing tape.
