Now genius says week 8 build. Had a PCD date of 1/25. Since the vehicle possibly won’t be built till the 8th week, I’ll have to cancel the new PCD date. I am unable to go to the PC that late. I will have to pick up from the dealer.

The latest word is that they will not be taking anymore Individual paint orders until next model year, was yours rejected?

Where can the individual paint colors be seen? How are they ordered? I don't see any reference to them on the configurator.

I ordered Brooklyn Gray but would like the same shade/tone but a little darker. Is that possible? Week 11 production date.

thanks

They are on the Individualizer (which appears to be down right now) but in order to get a better idea of how they look it is best to web search the color. Obviously it will look different depending on the camera used, your computer, etc. but should give you some idea.

No, changing yours is not possible at all. They have to be approved at time of order and scheduled that way. Still waiting on confirmation but from what we have seen they stopped taking any Individual orders for the year.

Mine hasn't been anything. My dealer told me I had an allocation, but as then after we had been at the dealer (and put down deposit), they sent me the build info and said their BMW rep thinks they'll have the production number earlier next month where they can add the Individual color (order is built as Tanzanite Blue, they said they had to build it that way and then when the order is entered, they specify the Individual color)... so I think the lied and I don't have an allocation. So i have no idea. Especially, thanks to you, I think I know more about the Individial paint process than they do. I really hope that what you heard doesn't pan out... that would really suck.

Unfortunately you are correct and they don't have an allocation for you. What they did was enter your order into the order bank and it will stay there until there is an allocation available that can be used. Good luck and keep us up to date if you can.

Congratulations, it won't be long now! I would be happy and enjoy the experience and the vehicle. Should a problem pop up then you can deal with it then.

Thank you - Its been helpful reading the advice.

It will be transported to the dealer in MD then being transported to us in Orlando.

Any instructions I should provide to the dealer before delivery to me, like no wash?
Thank you!

Seems like a lot of folks request it not to be washed by the dealer in order to try and cut down on the marks. Some also request that the shipping wrapping stay on. My detailer found a number of scratches in the clear coat that they had to take care of prior to putting on the ceramic. Whether those were from the factory or from the dealer washing it I don't know. If those would bother you then maybe it would be best to not have them wash it.

I asked them point blank if I had an allocation for March and was told they had the allocation and production number for it, but that it's a little different due to the Individual color, so maybe they just aren't giving me the production number until the Individual color is submitted or something

The approval process only takes a few days. Them telling you that you will have a production number until March means they don't have an allocation in order to ask for approval. The shame part is that after you waiting all that time it will be turned down anyways since Marina Bay Blue is not an approved color.

I've already instructed them that it needs to be San Marino Blue instead , so I'm hopeful they don't screw it up

for what it is worth, in communicating with a dealer outside of my area about a vehicle on their website (still trying to shorten the wait), the sales person confirmed no new builds until March at least, and said:

"BMW has reallocated resources to complete builds with individual paint and replace the vehicles that were damaged in the hurricane."

This would seem to be additional evidence supporting our idea of that earlier. . .

Glad to hear that, seems that is what we ended up on. Unless of course, your CA is a member here and read the thread.

Just ordered a 2024 BMW X5 50e on 1/8/24 and received a production number on Thursday 1/11/24. According to the web application, the order was received and the order was accepted. Dealer had an allocation that they used to build the car. But their is no date yet so I am suspecting that it’s in for mid to late March or early April. It’s for Carbon Black with Coffee interior. I had a car that was coming off a lease and they bought the car and I handed them the keys on Friday 1/12 so that I did not loose the quoted price of the car since they gave me 3k over my buy out price.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your order. All allocation have a build week associated with them. Give Genius a call and they can tell you your build week.
