M60i Allocations

Hi all,

Anyone know of dealerships that have allocations for a new M60i but with a discount as well.

Most places I am talking to have no allocations.

“No allocations” and “a discount” do not sound congruent. You may want to check a few brokers and see if they have any leftovers.

Very unlikely you will be able to get one for this MY anymore, only 15 allocations were issued nationwide.

I just placed an order on 2/3 from a local dealer that stated they had 1 allocation. Do you know how long before you receive a production code/vin or anything? When asked I was told "with your order in our order bank your chassis number is first". Am I getting the run-around in the sense they did not have an allocation?

Welcome to the forum. Yes, they do not have an allocation for you. As they sort of admitted, your order is in the order bank. That means there is no allocation for the order and those will receive allocations on a FIFO basis.

To answer your question, the production number is available as soon as the order is entered into the system against an allocation.

FYI, if you don't get a production number right away you don't have a production

TurtleBoy , slightly off topic here. Are the dealers able to trade their allocations with each other?

So I just placed an order w/dealer for an M60i. Question will show my inexperience. Assuming I don't get 1 of the 15, what happens?

If they didn't give you a production number then they didn't have an allocation. Your order will sit in the order bank under they get an allocation that can be used to fulfill that order request.

The take away here is, whenever you're dealing with a car that is limited, you're first question needs to be "do you have an allocation?" Then you go from there. If the answer is yes, and you move forward, you can place your order (and likely give them a deposit). In return, they give you a production number.

Price negotiations, if applicable, can happen at any point between or after this process.

Absent the allocation and subsequent production number, you are only floating in the wind.

I generally understand this.

I am questioning whether this comment is suggesting I won't get an '24 X5 m60I by trying to order it and it will likely slide to a '25?

I, and most others, recommend that you do all of the negotiating prior to placing the order. You lose a lot of leverage by postponing the price discussions until later on.

There is very little doubt that you that you will be getting a MY25 and not a MY24. Only if your dealer somehow trades for an allocation will you get a 24. There are no more allocations to be issued for the MY24's.

Can't you argue the alternative? In other words, once the car is coming in, if you don't accept it, it will become dealer stock, which are often subject to higher discounts?

It might be a dick move, but isn't there some leverage in the ability to not accept the car unless there is an increase in the discount?

I guess it could be possible but have never heard of that happening. Doing it that way you are tied to that dealer and what they offer. By shopping around beforehand and negotiating you have the ability to use pricing from other dealers to compare and as leverage. They have the upper hand from a practical and psychological point of view since they have the vehicle you want and have been tracking, they can set the price.

As an aside, many dealers offer less discount on in-stock vehicles than custom ordered. It all depends on the dealer, timing, market, etc.

As TB says dealer stock may end up costing you more especially a 50e or 60i. Dealers have little to no floor plan cost on customer orders. Negotiate up front is best practice.

Why is there only 15 allocations for the entire nation? That seems ridiculous.

As well as MY end there is rumored to be some supply chain issue with the V8's but not sure that is accurate. It could be given you would think they would build as many as possible given 50e's are extremely limited.

Anyone know if the 2025 X5 , X6 will receive any minor updates- or exact same as 2024 ?
And what Production week # will be the first 2025’s.
Would like to know before I go into dealer asking for an allocation on an X6 40i
