Please Help: 40d or 45e?
Hello Forum Members,
Hope you're all doing well, and will be willing to help with the below.. I've already checked other Threads before posting but can't find this info: Narrowed down to the X5 40d / 45e M Sport and finalised identical Spec, but really struggling to decide between the 40d or 45e Engine Options - getting the same discount % (double-digits) on either, so difference in 4 Year PCP costs is almost negligible; and they both feel great to drive!! I know it's down to typical journeys but I do all types (Short & Long and City & Motorway etc.) - so any suggestions / advice / insight / guidance would be sincerely appreciated What are the Pro's & Con's of going for either G05 Engine, and any other factors to consider (e.g. New Better Engines Launched at LCI, 45e Price Increases, 40d GMFV Decreases etc.)? This will be an all-rounder family car which needs to do everything, so are there any 'inherent' benefits or challenges of the 45e which might not exist as a free or available option in the 40d? Finally, just wanted to check: since I'm expecting to get delivery at the end of 2021 or early 2022 and in no rush - does it makes sense to hold off for the incoming LCI? P.S. This isn't a sponsored post so please PM if any of you are looking for an awesome BMW Dealer doing excellent Discounts.. |

FYI: sub-forum threads are clumped together with main forums (especially on the mobile app), so duplicate threads are unnecessary.
may wanna ask Jason to delete |

I went with the 2022 X5 plug-in hybrid.
no other vehicle will let you switch between full electric and a 3.0 l inline 6 cylinder twin turbo. I'm waiting to tune the turbo. and still get 90mpg. |

Thanks for the awesome response!
Decided to pull the trigger on the 45e - hoping to lock down config & place order this week.. I know it's down to personal preferences so not planning to go all out on optional extras but would appreciate any insight on 'must haves' or 'life changing' specs not to be missed? Enjoy it when it arrives, and look forward to the pictures |
