Ppf and ceramic coating, good price?

Swung by my local paint and detailing place to get some estimates.

For the following they quoted me $3300 total. I'm in the Bay Area.

PPF
  • Entire Hood
  • Full Fenders
  • Bumper
  • Headlights
  • Door Cups
  • Front of side mirrors
  • Rear Luggage Area

Ceramic Coating
  • 5 year warranty
  • 1 layer of 9H on paintwork and trim
  • 1 layer of Light on paintwork and trim
  • 1 layer of Wheels & Calipers on wheel faces
  • 2 layers of Rain on windshield and glass

Good deal?

I’ve been looking into this too. What is the difference between ppf and ceramic coating?

The difference? Two totally different things. PPF is like saran-wrap for your car, with some protection against rocks, etc. Ceramic coating is a chemical based 'nano technology' application that creates a more hardened service on top of the paint. Many people here do both (for cost though, I will be doing just PPF). Do an internet search on both topics....

That's a very good deal. I wouldn't hesitate with that kind of price.

Not all PPFs are created equal.

Xpel and STEK dynoshield are the 2 that stand out above the other brands in terms of yellowing and durability.

There's a guy on youtube who tested like 8 different brands for 15 months and all except STEK and Xpel yellowed or darkened.

They ALL lost their self healing capabilities by around 6 months however.

Xpel has the absolute strongest glue of any brand and will resist lift off more as benefit.

Thought this article was decent - for what it's worth from the internet -
https://www.exclusivedetail.com/best...otection-film/

I'm thinking of going w/Suntek over XPEL for the hydroponic 'extras' - am not thinking of PPF + ceramic...just PPF (or is that completely dumb idea?)...

Vanguard - thanks for the Stek mention...I looked them up, sounds great - but no installers anywhere...I've reached out to them to see if that's a glitch....

For what it's worth I also live in the bay area and paid 2700 cash for your PPF list minus the last item and done with Xpel. I did not get any ceramic. I would confirm materials and reputation. Mine is flawless, it's very difficult to find the edges and I checked all the bumper pieces and there are a lot!

Our shop is in SoCal and we would quote you a little bit less than that.
