X5M roof spoiler installed

Hi Guys I finally picked up my X5 and the first thing I did other than driving it home is replaced the rear spoiler with the M version.
- remove 4 rubber covers and 4 T25 Torx screws located under the tailgate middle. Leave the 2 screws 1 at each end.
- standing behind with tailgate closed pull the spoiler towards you. Start from one corner. It's a little tight don't worry it will not break if you hear a pop it's the white clips disconnecting.
-swap the 2 white clips and 4 spacer tabs. Make sure to take a photo for location because they need to go exactly same location on the M spoiler.
-to reinstall tailgate closed place the spoiler back on top, there are 5 tabs 2 on each side and 1 in the middle. Align tilt the spoiler up just a bit for the tabs go in them lower and push forward.
- open tailgate and put screws back and rubber covers.
(Use a magnet bit because screws can fall inside tailgate. when removing screws manually lower tailgate to prevent screws from falling inside tailgate but if they do don't panic just use a magnet screwdriver to reach it. )
Good luck took me 30 min.

I know a lot of guys wanted to replace the original spoiler me being one of them so I tried to show step by step the best I could. It was with only 2 tools a flat screwdriver and a torx bit driver.

Great information & instructions!
Ordering a spoiler from RG Sport.
This helps me a lot on my installation.

I bought it from BMW dealership at cost. Came out to $400 + $150 paint job at body shop Canadian.

Bought one at bmw dealership in seattle for 375. Paint another 400. Total about 800$. It was mineral white. So its pricey to paint since they have to match variants.

Hey guys! I wanna say thanks a lot for the tips! For sure saved me a few hours 🙈 for sure the magnetic head is a good tip. Chose to ignore that one and spend 5 minutes getting the screw out 🤦*♂️

Fitted mine today. Got it done in carbon fiber, since the company took a 3D scan of it (to later sell) and it turned out to be only a tad more than painting it.

Man oh man was it not easy to fit. Took me 45 mins. The hardest part was to get the clips in. It seems to me like for some reason the X5's mounding is more flat than the X5M's. So you're constantly having to bend the black plastic up to get them into the spoiler, while simultaneously pushing the clips in. An extra pair of hands would help. The result is for sure worth it though.

P.S do not do in a hot garage

What is the BMW part number for this? I just looked on the RG Sport website, and it does not appear they sell them.

Plus, it might be easier to just order from a dealer here in Europe than to have it shipped from the US

I found the part number.... it is: 51-62-8-083-919

However, is there anything else I need to buy? Any special fittings, clips, etc? Or is the spoiler all I need????

In case you didn't realize it, you'll need to have it painted to match your car color.

Of course.

I'm curious if all the hardware (clips, pins, etc) are included with the spoiler..... or do I need to add more small parts to my order???

Or are all the OEM clips reused?

What company scanned it, so we can keep an eye out for the CF aftermarket version?

Just finished this mod myself.....must have second if not third guessed myself - ended up taking it out, shoving it back it, taking it out, shoving it back in.

I did not look at stock spoiler : alignment before I removed it. Probably should have.

I suppose it's just how the mold goes but when you look at it from the sides, it it just a slight hair off on the reveal where the edge starts to roll. All gaps are tight, it's just a slight hair difference in the profile....

Just called it a day after removing and re-installing it for the 3rd time. When I came to jump on this thread and put my feedback, and looking at the IND video for the F97, it's got the same similar hairline reveal mismatch

Just added the X5M spoiler today Looks awesome!

One quick note...I tried to use a T25 and I was able to get 3 out but the bit was spinning a bit. The 4th one started to strip. I then tried a T20 and everything was perfectly snug and loosened it right up. Anyway, mine is a 2023 and the screws are T20 Torx.
