7.2020.xx is currently only accessible on apple phones where you are a beta user. Earlier versions should be accessible on both. I have android and am a beta tester but cannot read BDC without getting error codes at the moment. I expect this will be fixed in the coming weeks. There seems to have been some major updates between 3.2020 and 7.2020 and it understandably takes Bimmercode a little while to catch up. |

forgive my lack of knowledge, folks, pretty new to BMW, and to this forum.
I have recently placed an order for X5 MY2021 with Exec Package, Drive Assist and Parking assist. I see lots of conversations about different software versions and I am kinda confused a little/ worried a whole lot thinking how would I know if they are delivering a vehicle to me with an updated version of the software. I knew iDrive, but then I see references for iStep .. not sure what to add to my checklist in terms of s/w version checks when I pick-up the vehicle in a couple to three weeks' timeframe. Week 49 is currently targetted build week. |

No need to be worried, it is almost guaranteed to not have the latest version at delivery. You can ask your dealer to upgrade it but generally they do not do that unless there is a reason. They used to be separated but nowadays iStep version and iDrive version is referring to the same thing for all intents and purposes. You just need to refer to the iDrive version. |

Sorry, maybe a dumb question, but please bear with me .. where to check the version in the system, and what is the latest version I should ask for if I do not see that version deployed?

One thing I would recommend is reading the manual once, preferably twice, while you are waiting for yours. If you have your VIN you can use that or just choose a VIN from a similarly configured vehicle from a dealer's website. You can then get a tailored owners manual here: https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html |

As for which version should you ask for, that depends on exact delivery date as BMW is continuously updating. And no, we mostly have no idea what exactly they are updating, save for a few major feature item and/or obvious discovered bugs. The current latest for G05/G06/G07 (known as S18A I-STEP series) is 07/2020.60 (known as S18A-20-07-560 if discussing it in the I-STEP terms).
