M50i black badges

Thanks to multiple members on this board, I was able to find and purchase OEM black badging to the complete the shadowline look on my 2021 M50i.

Why they keep the rear badging cerium gray when extended shadowline is selected as an option is beyond me. I am not handy at all, but followed advice here and it turned out great!

Next... front reflectors.

I agree...
though probably they want to keep some exclusivity to M Comp cars, maybe??

I didn't think about that. Could be true. I wouldn't have bought them unless they were genuine BMW logos , just glad they have them.

I also did the same with my 40i. Makes it look sharp.

Definitely completes the look of shadow line trim

I'm trying (making little progress) to convince the wife to let me de badge her M50i instead. If it was a X40i she'd have no problem with de badging. I on the other hand would de badge a X5MC

What site did you buy the badging from and you did the full install yourself?

Getbmwparts.com

OEM parts:

Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total
51-14-2-472-837 Gloss Black Painted Lettering/Badge - "X5" $51.02 1 $51.02
51-14-2-472-839 Gloss Black Painted Lettering/Badge - "M50i" $51.02 1 $51.02

I did it myself. Used hairdryer, googone (automotive), dental floss, soap/water and cleaner wax. Took some time with my finger nail at parts but eventually came off.

Thanks... I hear the dental floss trick does it... the car is ceramic coated so ill have to stick it exactly back on where the other came off... Is the angle of the X on this different then the standard one that comes with the M50i?

Yes dental floss was good but still left quite a bit of the residue and black sticky stuff that takes quite a bit of work to remove. Heating teh residue was key. I compared them side by side and they looked the same for the X5 and M50i lettering from factory. I removed completely and just did exact measurements and marked with masking tape.

I've been thinking about removing the X6 and xdrive 40i emblems and not replacing them. I'm hoping I can do this without leaving some weird residue behind.

A heat gun (though hair dryer will work too), gentle pulling and some isopropyl alcohol to remove any leftover adhesive will completely remove any residue. I just debadged my X5. worked perfectly

Gorgeous color....what is it? And - how does it handle dirt/rain spots so far?

Congratulations on acknowledging the #1 most successful and productive state in the Union. Now: do you think women are out of line having an opinion about cars? Is it your actual belief that that's "a man thing"?

I think you might have eaten a few too many paint chips as a kid.

Ok...you may have gotten slightly off topic here....perhaps take the conversation over to either fox or msnbc.com?

Arctic Gray - does pretty well, but I wash it often. You will see water spots for sure.
