Digital key setup not showing in MyBMW app
I have a 2020 x5 M50i. I have the digital key working fine. When I log into the MyBMW app as directed to set it up on my iPhone 12 there is no “digital key” option.

Depending on the build date for your car you may not have the apple key option. I don't have it on my 2020 either. I'm not certain but I think you need a build date later than July 2020 to get it.

Are you saying any/all digital keys started in 7/2020 or just the ones where you can use your phone as the key?
We just got a 2020 X5 (in service date was 12/2019 so clearly we missed the 7/2020 thing by a good bit), and we have the same issue as the OP of no digital key option in the mybmw app. However, there is a digital key option in iDrive which makes me think the car is equipped for one (unless this was added to all cars as part of a software update even if the car can't actually use it)? Furthermore, our dealer didn't send us one of the credit card digital fobs so I don't even know if this car was originally equipped with it (at least the fob version) or not. Was this standard on the G05? Ours is pretty loaded...M Sport, Exec pack, etc so I'd assume if there was a digital key option around 12/2019 it would've gotten it.

1) keycard (the credit card-looking one) i believe your vehicle's model year has this capability, but as you mentioned, the keycard wasn't provided. setup is done through iDrive 2) Digital Key (vehicles produced July 2020+ as i mentioned above) this pertains specifically to using the iPhone as a key, and later, certain Android phones. at this point, there are 2 digital keys (the keycard and the iPhone/Android); i can use either my keycard or iPhone on my MY21 45e. Digital Key in the MyBMW app pertains to this as well, not the keycard. 3) Digital Key Plus released in certain vehicles with the iDrive 8 system. this expands the use of iPhone (don't know about Android) as a digital key where it will function similarly to Comfort Access with a regular key fob. for example, the iPhone can remain in your pocket and will unlock when your hand touches any door handle. this differs from Digital Key capability (#2 above) that requires the iPhone to be placed on the driver's door handle to unlock the vehicle (will not work on any other door handle). To add to what nZtiZia stated ... which is all correct btw, for item 1 you can visit the dealer and order a new key card for about $60.

I have the item in my idrive as well. I don’t however have a digital key just the display key and regular key.. could I just go purchase this and add it to the collection? Or do I need to bring it in to the dealer and they need to charge me for “coding”

if produced after July 2020, do you see Digital Key in your MyBMW home page? if so, you can use your iPhone/Android as a digital key. it’ll function the same as the keycard |

No it’s a 2019. I don’t see anything on my app however I’d still be interested in purchasing a keycard as I have the option on my idrive. Just wondering how the set up is for a new keycard as I said before I only have a digital key and regular key.

No coding needed on the vehicle. Just bring some proof of ownership information with you to the dealer as they have to verify it before ordering a keycard for obvious reasons. The keycard will already be "programmed" by BMW for your car but you will still have to pair it the first time via the iDrive menu. If I recall correctly, you'll also need both key fobs in the car with you while you pair it as well.
