Lear is still producing seats for Plant Spartanburg

They are just not producing them for the G05 X5. The first photo was taken of a new G01 X3 that was produced in the past 3 to 4 days. The second photo was taken of a new G05 X5 that was produced in the past 6-7 days.

Lear is superior to crappy magna. Magna leather is about the same quality of assembly as leather jackets at Walmart

My brother's G01 X3 has perfect leather...

Not mine, AndroidRobot. August 2018 build G01, and not one wrinkle anywhere. I was one of the fortunate ones

I don't have many pictures of the back seats but here's one. This doesn't show cognacs color correctly by the way. My wrinkles weren't X5 bad but they existed

Keep in mind that the switch from Lear to Magna had nothing to do with comfort or quality. It was strictly monetary. BMW had asked Lear to reduce their prices and Lear declined. Lear was the only seat supplier to Plant Spartanburg for 24 years.

Typical BMW seats (hard and uncomfortable) with exception to the comfort seats.

I think it was just the M40i seats, I drove a normal X3 30i loaner and it was far more comfortable same goes for all of the loaners I've had, 5 Series, F15 X5, X1 etc. The only one I've ever found uncomfortable was my old X3. Even the M5 Comp I drove had pretty comfortable seats despite being a true M car in how it rides I miss that thing

Many X3 owners have stated that the seats, which are shared between both 30i and M40i (as well as the new G20 3er) are very comfortable. The problem is the ventilated version of that seat is very uncomfortable as there is a lack of adjustable bolstering and the lumbar is stiffer. There is no difference in seats in 30i and M40i (at least in the US) but there are two different types of seats, one without ventilation with adjustable bolsters, and one with ventilation and no adjustable bolsters

Mine were not ventilated nor were the ones in a later I had. Maybe they were made by another manufacturer (Magna) because mine were 100% Lear

My 10 year old 4runner has more comfortable seats than by X4 by a good distance.

Okay, so now you have the mailing address for Magna. Who is going to write them a letter and send photos?

Apart from the initial sticker, how does one know if the car is equipped with Lear or Magna?

Previously there were manufacturing stickers placed on the bottom of the front seat cushions. Lear’s had their branding on it.
