What tires for 21” and 22” X5?

On TireRack I see only a few options and they are all summer tires. No winter or all-season options??

Based on
275/40R21 & 315/35R21
And
275/35R22 & 315/30R22

yeah well to the you're screwed club. I'm going to downsize to aftermarket 20" wheels most likely. I'm not a fan of these P Zeros at all. I wish Michelin made 21" tires for the X5

Scorpion Verdes are really bad tires all around which is the problem. I heavily considered using them but couldn't sacrifice grip, handling and braking.

The staggered look with 315 on the back is just awesome and burly, but I can’t figure out what combo of tire size would work for 19” and 20” with 315 in the rear.

20" factory staggered is 275/45 R20 and 305/40 R20

Hope i wont regret ordering the 21" with the limited options of tires.

Not sure what the downfall of those listed tires options. any chance new tire options from other manufacture in a yr or so?

I know. You can see why I had to go with the 20”ers where I live. I love the look of a staggered set but it just can’t happen on a performance SUV I drive to Florida in the winter. I am flirting with what wheels the new X5M will come with as a possible summer set. I am generally happy with the look and performance of the 740M wheels.

I was hoping more options would come out. The bad part is BMW makes a staggered 20" set up for the X5 but you can't order one with it

What’s the look? I also have to consider summer road conditions around Philly, etc.. You know how bad they can be and I dont think 22”ers would make it. I go to AC and Cape May a lot and the idea of a blow out on the schuylkill expressway is sickening.

I'd like to have traction and not run crappy tires like those. A square set up would be fine if my wheels were 9.5in up from and 10.5 out back, running square would look odd.

For summer tires 22", I would go for the Continental Premiumcontact 6

They have a very good rating.
(BE Site: https://www.continental-banden.be/au...er&cartype=car
But I'm not sure you can get them in the US.

Seems they only provide Summer tires...

For winter tires I would definitely go for a smaller size rims...

Have you run the scorpion verdes? What makes them bad?

I'm curious because I'm in going to have to replace my 21" tires are some point and the options are very limited unless you want to changes sizes from OEM.

No and I wouldn't because their traction rating is A A vs AA A which makes a huge difference. Then look at the UTQG of 600+ that generally means a harder rubber for longer life not ideal for a performance based SAV (or one with the power of a 50i) unless it has AA for traction. I'd run all season tires with AA A which which AA denotes traction / grip and a is for temperature. Anyways even my P Zero AS+ tires on my X3 M40i fought for traction 80% of the time when I'd take a corner and hit the gas. Those we're AA A and 500 UTQG last I recall. I'd love some Pilot Sport AS 3+ tires. What's funny is how most tires are tested in West Texas which is where I live.

P Zero Summer tires are AA A and UTQG of 220 so they wear pretty fast. I'll like do the PZ4's AA A UTQG of 280-320 depending on which size

I'm still holding out for Michelin though until I need a new set, then we will see

here's what i gather...

P Zero Summer tires: AA A and UTQG of 220
PZ4: AA A UTQG of 280-320
Scorpion Verdes tires: A A and UTQG of 600+

I like the idea that the scorpion with the UTQG of 600+. We are in AZ and we are pretty slow and cautious drivers, do you still recommend not getting them?

It will be over a year before we need to decide after we receive our X5, but want to have a good idea what we should order when time comes. We have similar, if not same built as you...

Traction is important too hence A is good AA is the highest so that's what you want.

AA A is AA for traction and A for temperature

In AZ I'd just run summer tires, maybe the PZ4's year round. Scorpion Verdes will also affect how the car drives and feels vs the UHP (ultra high performance) summer tires. I'm from Arizona so I know how things are over there pretty well excellent roads compared to where I live now

Stock tires should last 15k miles tops if they're normal P Zeros. You have plenty of time before then since the car hasn't even been delivered yet I'll be visiting AZ with my 50i in a month or so, if you don't have yours by then I'd be happy to let you see mine
