Thank you for creating this thread. Also credited to TurtleBoy 's consulting in the background

Members, please keep the data coming. I will summarized this from time to time, so we can get some reference of real world MPG between 45e, 50e, 40i, 50i, 60i.

For PHEV, I will also include a calculation where I back out the eDrive portion, and use [total miles - (1- eDrive %)] / gallon. This maybe a good reference on the ICE portion MPG as well.

I fully expect my MPG to start steadily decreasing as I’m about to hit the 1,200 mile mark and will really start to get on it in Sport/Sport+ modes.

Oh I have some finding. If you are in UK, your MPG, the G is Imperial Gallon which = 1.2 US gallon.

MPG UK = 43.6 => 36.33 MPG US.
Total mile = 1435 => 1436/36.33 = 39.49 US Gal = 149.48L. Matching the Fuel number in your app.

If I assume 43.6 = US gallon. Then 1436/43.6 = 32.9 US Gal = 124.6L, which is certain not the case.

So your coverted to US gal, you have 36.33.

The electric portion is puzzling me tho because BMW app says 1435 total miles. But charging history says 1671 miles. I want to believe the 750.1 eDrive miles is not accurate to the 537.954kWh, because this indicates 1.4mile/kWh. which is very low.

No, don't be. PHEV MPG uses (ICE mile + EDrive mile) / gas use for calculation. So one can get infinite MPG easily. If I back out the eDrive miles, they aren't better than 40i from what I have seen so far, based on 13 entries. The lowest ICE MPGs so far are in 15-17 range, all from 45e and 50e. Give me another week for more entries hopefully, I will show the consolidated summary

I'm based in Minnetonka, MN.

January was cold, but warmer than usual... We had a week of cold weather, a week of temps below 0F.

I did observe a 30% drop in all electric performance in the coldest temps. The indicator would start as low as 28 miles (down from 40)... It's back up to 36, with the warmer temps in February.

eelnoraa can correct any mistakes since I'm just starting on this but here is how I look at it.

Getting the total cost should just be a matter of adding your fuel cost (149.6 * £1.38) to your charging cost (£159.10 if I'm reading your statement correctly). You total cost for the month was £365.55 You can divide that by your total miles to get a cost per mile which results in a cost of £0.256 per mile.

When breaking it down by energy source it cost £.212 per mile (£159.10 / 750.1) for electric drive miles (regen included) and £.301 per mile (£206.45 / 684.9) for petrol.

I have 3 entries here, all 50e. From locations, I think all cold, 0F Jan. If I back out ICE miles, all 3 has low MPG, like 15-17. So it seems like cold, even with HVB, ICE will be on, and HVB may not help. Thus the low MPG??

Hi eelnora
Jan temps in NorthWest Uk just all over the place, we had about a week of -1 ish one day was -7, but the rest were above average 8-9 degrees so I wouldn’t say it’s been cold, battery performance has gone from range of 60s to 50s some time late to middle 40s.
Thanks for doing the numbers, I going to review this monthly for a bit, does seem great saving over 50d if any.

Is the gas usage column calculated or reported? It seems odd that it is the same as the calculated value, except for a few cases, and someone filled up with just .4 of a gallon.

It is tough to draw any conclusions from the data but interesting to see the wide swings in MPG within the 45e/50e data. The 40i seems to be a tighter distribution.

I don't use the feature. Not because I'm a conspiracy theorist nor do I believe the 2020 Presidential election was fixed. There are simply too many entities gathering too much information (aka data mining) on all of us. I liken it to the Insurance Companies wanting to "lower our rates" by placing a tracking device in our cars. I'm convinced they would increase my rates bases on my driving style Enuf already!

The “gas usage” column is reported by the app. Thr calculated gas usage column is reported total mile drive divided by reported mpg. I see just one row with 0.1 gallon difference. Maybe round off in the app?

I dont thjnk the the 0.4 gallon is the fill up. Just what was used in the period. Super low usage.

Yes too little data to draw any useful information. I did ask a few members with lower mpg. Quite a few is due to extreme low temp.

Thanks, that is what I thought it was. I was hoping some owners gave some actual usage data so we could compare against calculated values.

Here is another "cold climate" data point, and while we had warmer than usual temperatures, a good bit of the Jan driving was during more normal Jan temperatures.

Your MPG number is actually very inline with the majority of the PHEV here. Not impacted by cold at all. If I were to back off eDrive mile, I get 24.8 with your data

Maybe I ask if you park in garage, or outside? I wonder if the huge different between yours and other cold climate number is due to you park in garage (not too cold) vs other park outside (very cold)

I think a lot more has to do with how one drives the car than anything else.

I also want to add, I think this monthly summary, or even annual summary members provided, it is a lot more representative of the reality than if someone shows a "one of" consumption data from one stretch of a drive. As you guys all can see, I achieved 50+MPG with ICE only because I was downhill, what meaning does it have!!
