charcoal filter delete
Great find...Thanks! I just removed mine.
I believe the secondary charcoal filter in the air intake is designed to limit vapors from coming out of the car when it is turned off. Didn’t realize the M50i had em. . Last edited by HomeIn2; 05-21-2020 at 11:33 AM.. |

The darker grey filters are located in the top half of the airboxes... and they are now gone. I haven't driven the car much. No difference is sound. I imagine there is probably a small hp increase, probably only noticeable at high RPMs. I mean, there has to be, I removed literally HALF of the airflow restriction. I posted many more pictures in the engine forum, about the M550i K&N filter thread. But since doing so, several folks went out and removed theirs too. One person mentioned that in the old F85 models, those charcoal filters were worth like 15 rwhp. Worthwhile note.... EU cars don't have them |

I'll have a full set of the OEM 21s with TMPS and all season tires, and a full set of 22s with TPMs and Summer tires. That way, I can swap them out in a matter of minutes in my driveway. No need to bring it to anyone. BTW... TPMs are pretty simple. You just tell the seller what type of car you have (sometimes they'll need your vin), and they will program them before sending them to you. I bought an OEM BMW set, so the car will recognize them immediately once the new wheels are put on.

What tires did you go with? (mfg. & model). I’m looking for OEM 21” size summer/performance non-RFs.

But the only (non cheap china garbage) that I could get sent here (APO address in Belgium) are the vrederstein ultrac. They look great though. I'm pretty confident in them, and the ratings are good. Time will tell For my 21s, I removed the stock Conti runflat Summer tires..... which are garbage.... and now sitting in my basement..... and I installed an OEM sized set of Pirelli scorpion non- RFT all-seasons, and they are CONSIDERABLY better. Yea! My black diffuser panel came in from Lithuania this morning. Total removal and installation time? Maybe 15 minutes.... and that was including time for pictures, and the removal and reinstallation of plastic rivets (I have a tool that does those)
The color is "slightly" off..... very slight. You really have to get up close to notice the difference. And of course.... you can still see the trailer hitch..... but ot doesn't "stand out" quite so obviously as before. I believe it gives it a more aggressive appearance. I like it. Now..... if my damn exhaust tips would come in... I'd be in business. |

Looks great! I also recently installed a gloss black diffuser and agree it was very easy, especially compared to the Maxton front lip which I also did yesterday. I used the supplied hardware and supplemented with 3M tape and you're right - there's very little room to move inside that bumper!

I've bought a total of FOUR sets. Ironically, only the first ones showed up..... ever.
I have over $800 invested in exhaust tips..... and shady retailers keep screwing me over. It's a long story. As soon as I have them installed, I will share my measurements. I don't want another incident to happen where sevetal people buy a set that doesn't fit correctly. I'm 99% sure my measurements are good.... but I want to be 100% sure. More to follow. |

Can't install.... because I don't have all 4..... but I can test fit. Diameter was 2mm off.... but I can correct that easily with my pipe expander. NBD. But.... the way the tips come from behind the exhaust trim rings, they hang low, so they are closer to the bottom than the top. No good. However, the factory exhaust (rubber) hangers have stetched from 35mm to 45mm in only 4500 miles. If they were still at their original 35mm length.... I'd be good. 35mm poly exhaust hangers ordered, and on the way. They won't stretch like rubber. New tips on the way from California.... and "maybe" the other long lost set from China will show up? More to follow. |

I was kinda waiting to make a decision on whether or not I wanted to epoxy/paint my calipers another color. I figured that would be a good time to do the pads. |
