PowerStop Z23 Evolution Sport Carbon-Fiber Brake Pads for Brembo / M Sport Brakes

I called PowerStop today and got the following information for G05 X5s w/ Brembo / M Sport brakes:

Z23 EVOLUTION SPORT CARBON-FIBER BRAKE PADS
Z23-1609B Front & Z23-1850 Back

https://www.powerstop.com/product/z2...nted%20caliper

I have seen many references to the Z16 OEM replacement pads but PowerStop wouldn't confirm that they work even though other members here have use them with success.

Has anyone ever tried the new Z23 pads on an M50i? I'm looking to replace the pads on mine shortly.

I ordered the Z16 1609b. I should be receiving them today and hopefully installing them in the next few days. I'll report back.

Just went to install these today

Shop says the 1609b DO NOT FIT at all
What a pain in the butt.
I have a new set of the other powerstops 1868's so we are putting those on to see if my clicking issue resolves.

Will update after I find out

To be clear you ordered & installed the Z16 NOT the newer recommended Z23 right?

Yes thats correct. I ordered the Z16. It is the 16-1868.
I have a feeling the z23 might have a higher chance of squeeling, but im not really sure.

So far, so good. I drove home on the z16 16-1868 and everything seems to be mostly normal. I think this is the way to go as the original poster has said. I'll report back if something changes.

I'm curious why you said "Shop says the 1609b DO NOT FIT at all"

Is this referring to the Z23?

He said that the fitment was not correct at all.
Also the brake wear sensor wasn't long enough to work with this brake pad as well.

That would include the 17-1609b as well since that only difference between the 2 are additional hardware.

The z23 would be the same if it says 1609b.

The difference between the z23 and the z16 more or less the pad material and additional hardware. The 1609 portion would be the sizing.

I assume this to be true for 20" 740 style wheels with M Sport brakes? 1868 for both, front and back or buy it the way they sell it as 1868 for front and 1850 for the rears?

Hello,

Can anyone confirm the Powerstop brake pad model numbers for a M50?
I have been researching this & the company is absolutely no help. One other member gave me some info, but I'm still not sure. Last thing I want is to buy the wrong pads & find out in the shop with the vehicle on a lift.

Thanks
