Agree. I think the all black is my preference on the white colors b/c of the camera zit. If the camera wasn’t there I’d go with the white middle.

Black Grill / Exhaust Trim

Is there a step-by-step guide like this for the exhaust trim as well?

Black grill makes a a huge difference.

So IND basically re-sell the OEM grill but they have painted it black?

STEP 1: Begin the IND front grille installation by opening the hood.
Pull twice on the level inside the cabin.

STEP 2: Using an interior trim pry tool, depress the three (3) tabs at the top of each grille to loosen it from the front bumper.

STEP 3: With the grille tabs successfully freed from the housing, slowly pull the grille away from the front bumper working from side to side.

Step 4: If you have Park Assist then you will have a camera mounted in the center of the grille. Release the tabs and the housing will separate.

STEP 5: Align the IND painted front grille set with the tab housings and press in using uniform pressure.

Garage List
I understand that this thread is about the upper kidney grills but I was wondering if anyone had instructions on how to remove the lower grill to be replaced. A few weeks ago I was traveling on the interstate when a piece of shredded semi tire was flung into the front of my X5M. Even though I have PPF on the front, the tire shred broke the lower grill and left scratches on the slats of the upper grill. Some of the scratches were caught by the PPF but the slats were not covered. Both grills are on order and I am planning to install them myself. Thanks for any help

Does anyone have any advice for the cerium/shiny accents located on the active grill shutters themselves.

Ps this isn't my car, just sharing someone else's because it shows how they swapped out the grill but the middle shutter/louvers are still shiny

I’m thinking about adding a gloss black grille but I have a M50i that has the cerium grey active grill shutters as well but I want it completely black. When I look online I can’t find the all black one. Also can it be removed when you replace the grille or does the whole front bumper need to come off?

The outer piece is this one I think:
G05 X5 M Performance Gloss Black Front Grille - vehicles with Park Assistance Plus - BMW (51-13-8-096-590)

The active portion is another part and much harder to change according to this thread.

On a hot day, remote start and you will see it open. It and the grille are two separate parts.

Where did you purchase the black kidney grill?
Is this grill compatable with the X5 xDrive 40i?
