In regards to "full screen" YouTube videos, they are correlated to the aspect ration of the video that you are trying to playback. If you have a 16:9 video, it will not cover the entirety of the screen. But if you have a widescreen video (blackbars removed) let's say MKV or MP4 file, PLEX or Infuse can play it back for the entirety of the screen of the iDrive 7.

Have anyone tried using Plex on the RSE, rear seat screens? Is the GoogleCast available on those screens? I can save Plex video on my phone (or stream it from my server) and want to cast it on the RSE. I can also use iPads, but wondering if RSE integration is possible with casting. I know USB key works, here is a video demo:

In most states in the US, having a video playing on a screen that is visible to the driver while the vehicle is not in park will get you a moving violation (ticket) if observed by an officer. Just so you know, use at your own risk.
MB had a screen with a polarizer that would show the 'normal' display to the driver, while showing another to the passenger, but the BMW display does not work this way. |

Confused here.
You all keep referring to being about to watch videos on the iDrive7 screen while in park. I looked at the manual and I can't find much. It did speak of screen mirroring but that sounds like regular CarPlay. Are you able to play a video while in park? How? (iPhone User) Second question. While figuring all this out, I landed on the wifi network of the car with my phone and opened the browser which led me to create an account with ATT "my vehicle" <- what is this for? I've enabled the account and it looks like it came with a free plan of 3GB per month. Why do I need me car to have its own data plan? What did I just enable that I didn't have before? |

I guess when you have people in the car that have a device that goes on the internet without a data plan? Like Wifi Only? But 3GB I guess it's really more for browsing and maybe some music. I guess I'll turn it off for now, I thought it maybe used for particular car features. This day and age, everyone has a phone that can hotspot with more GB than this. Thanks! |

The vehicle's hotspot will use the external antenna, which MIGHT give you better cellular coverage than that on your phone. Say you had some children with WiFi only tablets...they could use the vehicle's hotspot versus you sharing yours on your phone, which should also keep your battery up longer unless you plug it in or place it on the charge pad. So, sort of depends. The OTA updates are not part of that data package.

I was pretty sure that Bimmercode would allow you to enable Video In Motion. I could have sworn I enabled it through the app. If not, I'm pretty sure that Bimmergeeks Protool will allow you to enable it.

I don't believe the Private Message feature is available to new members until you have made x number of posts (I don't know what that number is). Anyway, to do it, you just click on their screen name in the left sidebar and a pop up window will appear with a few options of which one is to send a PM. Try clicking and see what you get.

In the USA, unless you code the vehicle, you can only view videos while in park unless the screen cannot be seen by the driver. Some places allow it while in motion, but in the USA, that's illegal, and, if caught, you may end up with a moving violation.
Mercedes, at least on some models have (had?) a fancy central display that show the driver the 'normal' stuff, while those to the right can be watching a video while in motion. |

Yes, Bimmercode can do it too. Last update wiped this out but I'm kind of reluctant to turn it on again. To fill the screen, it depends on your movie's setting. New ones are made in the format that can almost fill the screen. From my experience, it can do 1080 but won't play 2K or higher.
