Hardwired Dash Cameras

Has anyone hard wired a dash cam or dash + rear camera yet? I'm likely getting the Blackvue DR900S-2Channel and wanted to see if anyone had trouble getting it installed? I'm not doing it myself because the X5 had a lot of electronics I'd rather not mess up

Just need to find the right fuse.
If you hire an audio shop, they should know what to look for.

I wish I have my G05 to help you.
I am still few months away before I can jump on G05.

I made a poor attempt to install the rear dash cam myself; however getting access to the tubing that runs from the car to the rear gate looked very tricky. I am waiting for someone to post that they have successfully done it before even having a 3rd party try.

As for front camera I have the Blackvue battery hooked up to the cigarette lighter in rear of the center console below the middle seat AC controls.

I have that professionally installed and connected to the fuse box in a few weeks too.

+1.

The person who must be obeyed won't tolerate exposed wires. The idea of a mirror jumper seems appealing but with the X5 (maybe all modern technology loaded vehicles) battery drain discussions the idea of a separate camera battery battery also makes sense. Guess I'm hoping someone will do the most stealth install possible and offer up some photos - please.

Yeah I'm going for the factory look considering what the car costs I don't want exposed anything. I'll gladly pay for a proper installation once I verify there aren't any issues.

I wired this myself in the F15, which was pretty simple into the mirror. Has anyone managed to pull the mirror cover off yet to see what sort of wiring is up there? On the F15 it was switched with the ignition so no battery drain issues.

I read somewhere that hard wiring dash cams will affect the warranty. I have know idea if this is an issue. I'd love to have it hard wired if it doesn't affect the warranty.

Technically using non OEM tires that are identically spec'd voids your warranty in their eyes too. They have to prove what you did caused whatever issue under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Law (Lemon Law) so I wouldn't worry about it. You're in Cali too which has one of the best lemon laws so

I was able to run the cable for rear cam. All you need to do is pop open the speaker penal and rear hatch.

There was another thread on the Blackvue where a member hmbmd mentioned that the Blackvue would lose power from obd when cruising and would kick back in when the accelerator was pressed. Take a look:

https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1563714

I want to use obd as well but hesitant to do so based on his experience. I think it's best to hardwire to the fuse. Thoughts?
I'm getting mine done in about a week or so

For the front camera, the access to the front right fuse box is the same as the G30 5 series. Instructions for the 5 series here: http://www.eyephysics.com/BMWG30/bmwg30.html

I haven't gotten around to finding the right fuse to tap yet. The fuse diagram and other info is here https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/g...box/1VncvSrfBj

Thank you for this!
F27 in the front looks like the one to use. Does't the rear get power from the front?

I had this professionally installed over the weekend - looks good (although a little bigger than expected) and quality of video is insane. Don't cheap out like I did and get the non-wifi version.
