Anti-Dazzle Help

So I removed 5AP and VO coded the appropriate modules but it is still not active. On my F15 there were additional steps necessary to code the European Spec. Does anyone have more information?

No, nothing more should be required. Are your headlights on auto high-beam assist mode per pic below? Which ECUs did you code (not Code NCD) after removing 5AP? Does you car have the FLA option (high-beam assist)? How are you determining that they are "working" or "not working"?

Yes I have the auto high beam on.

When I saw it is not working, every time I approach a car or a car comes from the other direction, the high beams immediately shut off. There is no adjustment.

And you have the lazer lights? Nothing additional was needed when I decoded the anti-dazzle. Just have to make sure you have Auto-Highbeam on. I did notice that it will shut off the high beams when a car approaches if it determines it can't tunnel the beam effectively. This seemed to happen if the car was coming on a bend or if it wasn't dark enough outside.

They have shut off every time for me. No adjustments are being made on the high beams. I know how it is supposed to work because I had them on my F15.

Have confirmed that removal if 5AP is not sufficient to truly activate anti-dazzle. Am working with Opasha to identify the true solution. Will post an update soon.

I have a 2020 US X5 loaded, all I did was the 5AP VO removal and wrote to BDC, DKOMBI, KFASA and FLM2, but pretty sure all I needed was to write it to BDC only. Anyway mine work perfectly, just have to make sure auto button is used as Lexx pointed out.

Interested to hear theories and other experimental results, but a fair number of people in US and Canada got anti-dazzle working by just a 5AP removal (do a search), so it is definitely enough in many (even if maybe not all) cases.

Also, I am sure "Turkey" is a typo, but I have no clue of what was actually supposed have been typed? And what or who is "Opasha"?

Trojanlaw doesn't think the other GFHBA users have it working to its full extent. Does yours dip and move the high-beam until the very last second, keeping HB active as long as possible without dazzling the driver?

In TL's case, it acts like the old fashioned HBA - binary on or off.

TL has an old build - 11/18, not sure on i-step version.

Mine was working perfectly prior to the OTA update - Haven't had a chance to test it since.

I could tell it was working when driving behind a car on a back country road. The high beams were on, lighting up the shoulders on either side of the car in front of me, but wasn't shining on the car. I got a chuckle out of it b/c it was like I was helping the car in front of me navigate this dark road.

Also on the same drive, cars would approach in the opposite direction, and you could see the high beams dance as the car approached and then turn off, if it deemed necessary. It was very cool to see.

Yep that's how they are supposed to work, so sounds like Trojanlaw has another issue considering you both have US spec cars.

Assuming the hardware is the same, and coding has been completed correctly, the main possibility is build/i-step version

Yes but your build is 11/2018. Can we rule out build version?

Opasha is the guy who wrote coding instructions on F15 forum.

Opasha is actually working with me on this. I was one of his main guinnea pigs for the F15.

No we can't. Thanks for VTENGR, I have been able to identify several files in my BDC_Body ECUs that did not code to the same as a later build. I am coding those in tonight and hope that will do the trick.

I will report back after. Thanks again to ifr and VTENGR for all of the help.

Any update, did you happen to get it to work?

Not yet. My files did have some differences from VTEGNRs after VO coding. Trying to work through them. Wondering if my 11/18 build has anything to do with it.

No luck yet. Have even coded the FLMs to full ECE Spec.
