M850i First Edition is getting a new sibling

Well, I can vouch that the 2021 X5 M50i's are in the queue for production... here is my build:

Black Sapphire Metallic
Ivory White Extended Merino leather
Driving Assistance Professional Package
Parking Assistance Package
Executive Package (407, 417, 4A2, 5AZ, 610, 6U8)
2-axle air suspension (incl. 2VH)
Space-saver spare
Front and Rear Heated Seats
Heated Front Seats, Armrests & Steering Wheel
Aluminum Dark Mesh Interior Trim
Anthracite Alcantara Headliner
Leather Dashboard
Front massaging seats
Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System

SUPER sad that I couldn't order Acoustic Glass! Sorta sad no heated/cooled cup holders nor Luggage Compartment Package. Meh on the soft close doors. Oh well!

I have my production number, so now the wait begins. Will give me plenty of time to sell the '18 Q7 Prestige it is replacing.

UPDATE 7-13 - I am currently week 32 of 2020, so August 3-9 to start production. (date received from BMW Genius Hotline!) Assume my PCD will happen in late August
UPDATE 7-20 - Week 32 has become week 30... Checked this morning and entered the magical "PRODUCTION BEGINS - Today's the day: your BMW has entered the production queue."
UPDATE 7-30 - Received word from broker that PCD has been requested.
UPDATE 8-3 - Received delay letter due to certifications of new model from PCD.
UPDATE 8-4 - Checked "Track my BMW" to find G05 is "Entering Assembly Line"
UPDATE 8-5am - "Quality Check" hit this morning
UPDATE 8-5pm - "Awaiting Carrier Assignment" - received PCD date of 8/26
UPDATE 8-12 - PCD finalized date of 8/27
UPDATE 8-19 - At the Dealership (PCD), Dealer FM called

Congratulations. Did they restart the PCD?

Nice build! Not sure I've seen the white w/ aluminum but it sounds like a good idea.

I have Piano Black in the M850i... lots of glare AND definitely scratches. This is wifes vehicle, so it was her choice, she did not want brown or ash woord... I think it will be good... will post pics when it arrives.

My understanding is PCD began back up around 6/1/2020 (that is from memory, so could be off a little bit.)

Did she get to see this combo? I feel she'd take this over any other colours

I presume it was a question for me? In that case, Thank You and it is the Individual Fine-Wood Ash Grain High Gloss Silver.

This was the X7 launch/showcase colour combo. It really matches perfectly with the ivory white/night blue leather, and should only be optioned with this upholstery colour combo, they show off and complement each other beautifully and oozes an overall design cohesion. You can tell this trim was designed with the Ivory white/night blue colour in mind, unlike other trims are simply mix and match. And when matched with other leather colours, especially darker ones, it looks very out of place and imbalanced.

The other perfect match for the leather colours is the Fineline Black Wood Trim, albeit it sets a different tone and vibe. Unfortunately it's only available on the X7, not on the X5 nor the X6.

That was in the demo drove for a day that we almost purchased (Amertine with Ivory Full) but she chose against it as in that car it did not look nearly as nice as the pics you shared - the dark parts where horizontal lines, not "figured" like your pictures show. She thought it looked "sick". To me it looked like they had just painted the lines on with a sharpie. Hard to explain. Looks great in your pics though!

Oh yeah I totally get it, that's the downside of getting a genuine wood trim, you never know what you're gonna get. I had my reservations because of that, but I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Like I said in my post, this wood matches best with the Ivory white/night blue combo. It's not really that nice with a full Ivory white interior, it lacks the blue upper parts which highlights and complements each other, and those blue parts really make all the differences, as it was designed in conjunction with that colour combo in mind. And because of how unique this trim is, it feels out of place to match it with any other upholstery colours.

Just realized what you said at the end, you don't think Trump sharpied that wood trim for the demo you drove, eh?

I respectfully disagree. Looks great with Ivory and Leather Dash!

Congrats! My production date moved up a week from 33 to 32 so it's already been a good day.

Just curious but why couldn’t you order acoustic glass or heated/cooled cup holders? Did they pull these options for 2021?

BMW Performance Center Delivery
The Ultimate Delivery Experience™

Dear Dillon,

Thank you for submitting a Performance Center Delivery reservation for Stephen (Steve). Unfortunately, this production number (0765xxx) is a new model or new model year and we cannot offer a delivery date at this time. EPA and CARB Certifications are issued by the government and must be obtained for every model every year, regardless of any change (or not) in the production of the vehicle. The vehicle will remain at the VDC/VPC until all approvals and all holds have been removed (see example shown below). The vehicle will not ship to The BMW Performance Center or your BMW Retail Center until the holds have been removed.

Please inform your client that we will contact you with a delivery date as soon as all EPA and CARB Certifications have been received by BMWNA and the Engineering Data and Release holds have been removed. Should the client wish to cancel you will need to submit a cancellation form which can be found on CENTERNET.

Also, BMW Manufacturing has informed us that effective immediately, all tours of the manufacturing facility will be suspended, and a tour will not be available on the day of your customer’s delivery.

Thank you for your patience!

So jealous. I'm still in production begins, but my expected completion date moved up from August 9 to August 7, so that's something. Hopefully the status changes today and starts moving right.
