Is there such a thing as a base model?
Would simply adding or deleting the smokers pack (which is a free choice item her in the U.K. and I don’t know which is the default) make it none base |

I've never even seen a pic of one in media literature or online, and I've looked. Everything is Comps....
I look on cars.com and autotrader.com, too, and nothing.....

I had ordered a base model as a 2020 but was informed that my build slot was pushed into a 2021. I was interested in the '20 as you could spec it more as a sleeper model with satin trim and roof rails in place of the blacked out look. Since this option is no longer available I switched to a competition pack...well played BMW, well played. It's a 30 month lease so I'm not going to bother swapping trims.

For the 2020 model year, in the US, they had the X5 M model code 20XK and the X5 M Competition model code 20SM.
For the 2021 model year, there's no longer a separate Competition model, there's just the X5 M model code 21XK. The Competition Package is back to being under the ZCP code rather than a separate model. 7M9 Extended Shadowline Trim is still a part of the Competition package, if you don't get ZCP, the "base" X5 M will have the standard grill and side vents instead of the shadowline version as well as the standard chrome tailpipes.

I haven't seen a single "base" X5M F95 sold in US in a past few months. My friend over in Europe did get one Black on Black and it looked really nice besides that the prices over there for "base" model M is higher than what we paying here form Comp models.

I have seen a couple on cars.com a white one in Arizona that is now gone and a blue one that's still on there back East. But not many around
One note I've noticed is a different rear bumper more car color |

No, M50 is a different model.
X5M Base for 2020 is a different model than Comp. Main differences with Comp are 600 hp instead of 617hp, chrome instead of black trim on grill and side vents, chrome instead of black tailpipes, different exhaust, and different rear bumper valance. Diffuser looks the same but more body color paint on the bumper where comp is gloss black. chrome badges instead of black and full leather is an option. Comp also has track mode on the M settings. My understanding is the suspension is the same on base and comp unlike on an M5. |

my main reason for looking in to "base" model was ability to have same radius wheels and this is where it ends. will see what 2021 will bring where comp will be an option!

That looks amazing. I can’t tell if I like the competition or the non competition rear diffuser paint theme more. Both looks great.
I have to say the F95 is the best looking X5M to date and probably best looking new Bmw maybe only topped by the 8 series in the looks dept. What I am curious about is how the exhaust sounds different and if the ride is any better. Last edited by Alan l.; 07-17-2020 at 12:21 PM.. |
