Correct extended lug bolt size with spacers?

Hi,

I put 22 in aftermarket wheels on my X5 and I want to add 15mm spacers to the front and 20mm to the back.

My question is this, the stock lug bolt length is 27mm and I wanted to know if I can run 45mm extended bolts front and back?

My reasoning is the following:
27mm + 15 mm = 43 mm (+2mm)
27mm + 20 mm = 47 mm (-2 mm)

45 mm is right in the middle so all lug bolts are the same and I can get just one set of 45mm wheel locks as well.

Is is safe to be 2mm short on the front? I know it's tiny but still.

Any advice is appreciated.

Yes, that is the exact setup I'm using, and my theory was to do the exact same, cut the length of the locking extended lugs in half. 6000 miles so far, no issues. Generally the spacers will come with appropriate length lugs. You'll get a slightly longer set of lugs for the rear. Buy everything together so you're not piecing it together with unknown variables.

Recommend getting a set of extended locking lugs from Turner Motorsports. (and cutting the difference in half so you can use a set of 4 locks, with 1 key.)

Check the first post of my progress thread in my sig. I included part numbers on everything.
