What’s up with all the lack of options on the 21s
What the heck. My lease on my 19 X5 50 is about up and I was ready to order a 21 X5 M50, but many options that I want aren’t available, at least not right now. They include:
- Full leather, which differs significantly from extended leather. - Night vision. - Acoustic glass. - Soft close door...geez - Heated and cooled cup holders These are the options that you can’t get on the 21 X5. Very disappointed. I realize most people don’t care about some or any of these options, but I like all of them. I might have to go Benz or Porsche now.

Significant supplier issues due to pandemic.
Some of the options like Night Vision isn't as popular here in the USA compared to other markets. Options you've listed are available on G05 international markets and some of the options are standard or available on USA X7. Forum members can only conjecture as to why BMWNA has limited options to certain vehicles. MY 2021 X5 updates are here (list of changes) https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1725735

MystroX5 has made the switch from X5 and X7, and from what I can discern he's very content with the upgrade. I think I made a mistake test driving a fully optioned X7 M50i..... https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1743428

Yea, I made the switch to a fully loaded X7 M50i. It’s a different animal with a different personality than the X5. Opulent is a understatement and it’s smooth ride is unmatched from anything I have ever driven. DHP is a must in the X7. It hides its weight to such so that without it, it feels like a complete different ride in the X7. This is more so than a X5 with just M-Suspension and no DHP.
I test drove a X7 40i at release and it felt top heavy. Fast forward and I test drove a rare unicorn X7 that was truly fully optioned and I HAD to own it. Both X5 and X7 have key luxury options eliminated for 2021 like Rear entertainment, Ambient air, Night Vision in the X7. The X5 took a harder hit and lost soft close doors which is stupid at the price point and on the X5M is unforgivable. I hope this is a temporary omission but why would order now if you were after a top spec example?? Ridiculous. This news also had X7 owners scrambling to get 2020 models. 2021 deletes make absolutely no sense, financially or otherwise for BMW. They certainly charge enough, and the process is already there for keeping them. Audi made the same mistake for US models prior to 2020, and put back many features they had eliminated for US cars. The field will be broader on my next trade.

They also limited the Laser lights into the Exec package, which is frustrating. On the M50i, I really don't value the other items (Sky lounge, shades, glass controls) so It's like now the Laser lights effectively cost $3300. Plus, when you're basically only buying them for the look (because 99% of driving is metro area), it makes it super annoying.

Same issue here, last week we came to dealer and want to build a 2021 M50, but they told us there are tons of options unavailable.
- Ivory White /Night Blue Full Merino leather - Alcantara headliner in upholstery color (only black now) - Acoustic glass. - Soft close door - Heated and cooled cup holders Executive package has huge different. We are so frustrated, we added options so total is around 100k but they don't offer the most attractive options. So we thinking either wait until they bring them back or we go to Porsche, Benz. Porsche we are not content with interior, Benz we don't like exterior. |

Nice leather, but the interior layout is meh to my taste. Still, the good thing about tastes is that everybody does have their own.

The layout is taking some getting used to, but I just wasn't thrilled with the G05 (loved my F15). I still have my G01 too, so not leaving BMW entirely.

Problem with Porsche, the whole VW group (I was happy they've learned and changed it on the new Continental GT), until they figure out what to do with those two giant holes in the middle, an automatic fail. |

Wait, especially you wanted Full Merino and in Ivory White/Night Blue colour and the matching Alcantara headliner. If also added the B&W sound system and the right trims, that's an interior looks and feels more expensive and luxurious than other other options BMW has, not to mention make any other car in this class looks cheap in comparison. |

Wait if you can, and hopefully the options will come back later in the year. Looks like you were getting the car truly fully loaded (assuming you'd also get B&W), in that case, as a whole package, no other car in this segment can compete |

Yes I was going to order it fully loaded. But I’m probably going to pass now. I guessing these options will be available in the future, but who knows when. Probably will look at the Mercedes GLE53/63 and CayenneS/turbo.

Vice this (note also the Auto Hold button, not present on US models - Americans prefer to have a dummy button rather than this functional feature): Last edited by Paladin1; 08-03-2020 at 04:41 PM.. |
