Nice thing about either the X5m or M50i ... no worries about passing semis and getting up mountain passes! |

I get under 300 on the highway in all comfort. But this is purely a function of speed and corresponding air resistance.

that's sounding more correct based on the posted data ... what speed do you normally drive? I'm normally @ 85ish.

So, no, a BMW X5M is not very exclusive or rare. Cool car, sure; but, hey, yesterday I saw a filthy one parked in front of a scrubby strip mall in Eugene Oregon, so "exclusive" is stretching it well past aspirational, and getting frighteningly close to delusional |

I would offer colloquial use of "exclusive" starts at the point where people who need to work for a living don't go, and that's probably somewhere around the $200k zone. Just about everyone would agree an Urus, Cullinan, Bentayga are "exclusive" as are high-spec Range Rovers & AMG G-Wagens. Comparatively, the X5M is in the $100k range and 99.9% of people wouldn't know an X5M from the lowest spec 45e or 40i parked at Walgreens. (in fact no BMW would look odd in a Walgreens parking lot!) The X5M is a super cool car, and a very nice car, and a great GREAT value and anyone who can afford the experience is lucky! ... but it's still a mass-produced working-class car and thus not very "exclusive" compared to 10+ other SUV brands out there.

The only cars considered exclusive are brands that only make exclusive cars. A g wagon could be a Jeep Wrangler to 99% of people. BMW isn't known for exclusive cars, but they make exclusive cars within their range. M cars are their entry exclusives and alpinas are their top exclusives. Within the M car range you have those that are less common like M5s and X5Ms and more often like M4s and below. I see M3s and 4s on my way to work everyday. M5s occasionally and X5Ms maybe once every two weeks, if even. |

People will notice a Lambo, Ferrari or or a [non-Chaenne] Porsche. Even a Corvette. No one except knuckle-heads like us on this forum would ever notice a X5M unless it’s painted in lime green. I really like the notion of X5M though. And would opt for one if it had a softer ride. And that lime color of course to annoy my neighbors. Just kidding. |

Yeah - the key root word in there is "work": i.e., do you have to do paid work to have an X5M?
Then it's working-class. cause "work". Again, we're all very lucky to have great gigs, but still ... for most it's work or no X5m. Ya know ... I gotta hand it to the BMW marketing department if there are this many people thinking a BMW is a 10lb bag of diamonds. Related thought: how kickass is Mercedes-Benz as a brand that the CEO drives a MB S-class and the honey truck driver drives an MB pump truck? Seriously. How the fuck did they do that?

To say a $120k car is basic and then compare it to Gap/Old Navy is just off-base. I agree that most people buying Ferraris and Lambos don't care what they cost. However, that same sentiment is why a lot of people buy M5, M8, etc. and not M2 or M3's.....or they buy M models and not M-Sport or basic models.

not even sure why this is consideration if the difference is 10K,
the X5M will shit all over the the x5 Sport I have had a F15 X5 m sport for the last 3 years and just added the F85 X5m, granted last gen but it doesn't even feel like the same car. Its amazing how different it is. I can only assume the same difference of the current one. If I was shopping between these 2, first step is to drive them, the difference in feel and drive will be mind blowing. |

Echo this ... a clean & shiny Marina Bay Blue X5M (especially with MSS to lower it, and spacers, in my case) turns heads. i actually noticed this a few days ago when waiting for my wife in a parking space at a shopping center ... kids, dads, teens, all seemed to see the car and stare, checking out the front end intakes / grills, 1 guy even crouched down to look at the drilled brake discs / calipers / tyre size ( i assume) without realising i was in the car! you can multiply that effect 10x on a sunny day, especially when cruising around town with even the stock exhaust humming. i can't read lips but have seen plenty of elbows being tugged with a "look at that" or "nice car" or similar none of the above is to show off, just to share that an MBB X5M (Comp in my case) doesn't go unnoticed ... which is perfectly fine with me!
